I believe I do and I disagree with your position that tax is theft. Tax is a payment for services rendered bu civil government in a society such as transportation, dedication, defense, and a legal system. Without these, you do not have a civilization you have what mankind had for millennia, anarchy, and tribes.
Therefore, a “wealth tax” on those who have benefited most from the system in place that allows them and everyone else to live and hopefully profit is not necessarily unfair nor socialist. All socialism means is for the common good. I believe many people conflate socialism as practiced by most US allies and communism as basically practiced by no nation successfully.
Taxes are part of the accord between civilization and individuality. It is in the balance that people balk and many appear not to understand the depth of how certain individuals such as those with great wealth can rig and game the system in their favor, therefore conflating the value of their services to society and unfairly taking more of the social pie for avarice and leaving less for others who make be working hard and playing by the rules as written but lack the power to right those same rules in their favor.
I would agree with your position if we abolished the Federal Reserve which only serves the ultra-wealthy and banksters to the detriment of our economy and people. I can see where a desire for a “wealth tax” comes from when we clearly see the so-called “free economy” is neither free nor anything other than a system rigged for the elite .0001%. The end of the empire is due to greed and most people I know are not greedy as they have little to be greedy about.
