      There is a difference

There is a difference between Republicans and Democrats, at least according to Pat Caudell, formerly a Democrat activist and campaign manager for Jimmy Carter.

” There is a difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are whores. They do it for money. Republicans are content to have their name on the bathroom wall ‘For a good time call ………….’:

    I always found that amusing.

      Maybe not that bad.

    pinecarr,

Check out the Wikipedia link that Tall provided on post #5. A couple of standout takeaways are that carpenter bees generally don't sting humans, the structural damage is minimal and that carpenter bees are great pollinators.

Economic incentive to “Law enforcement-ize” your stuff

"So how do we feel about mixing revenue and "public safety"?"

Let's ask these folks in Philly:

      Sliced ham

Until recently we had our pork butts smoked as hams except for maybe holding back one or two to be used as pork roasts. Then by chance the gal at our butcher shop, when taking our instructions for meat cutting, asked if we wanted sandwich meat. Huh? "Yeah, do you want any of the smoked hams sliced for sandwich meat?" Of course we did, we just didn't know they did that. Now we have more ham sliced than not, the thinner sliced the better.  I highly recommend this if they will do it for you. It's outrageously good. Now my sandwiches would put this guy to shame.

      Not required.

I don't know about aluminum foil's effect on brain control waves…

There are some who don't need a tin foil hat at all:

      Hat design

That's such a '70s style; so outdated. The latest is much more streamlined and also insulated for use in colder weather. Also, a paint job is standard on newer models with a variety of options; camouflage is preferred by the more serious survivalist/conspiracy theorist.

      Re-reading

    John,

After re-reading your post I think I now understand that you meant to say that after a serious downturn, the solar panels, lights, roosters etc. would attract good guys as well as bad which would provide an opportunity for mutual defense. This is an understanding I previously didn't recognize. My apologies.

I think you may be right; it's something that I'd never considered before. Encouraging prospect; let's hope we never have to find out.

      You’re right….

…..that the noted items might be of interest to good people as well. Unfortunately I've not met very many, especially those interested in mutual defense. Thus, even though I heartily agree with Chris' focus on community, I've concluded that if things really, really get tough, I'm on my own. Not my choice; just the way it is. It would appear, John, that we're in the same boat. Welcome aboard.
