      Not at moment, but…

    T2H –

Right now, all comments made in Forums are posted to the PP.com’s ‘Recent Comments’ section.

With the new website, we do have the ability to create “private” groups that won’t broadcast comments like this. But it will require coding to make that happen.

Given the current buglist, it will be a while (i.e., weeks) before we’ll have capacity to work on new projects.

If the group here is highly in favor of having a private community, please let me know. If so, I’ll give this higher priority.

    Thanks for flagging, Nancy.

I’ve reported the issue to our IT team. I’ll let you know when it’s fixed.

In the meantime, you (and anyone else) can send you images to me and I’ll use my Admin superpowers to load them into your account. Just email [email protected]

Sad that it is becoming topical again….

    Dang! I’m now wishing I had created a +1,000 upvote button….

Many thanks for the kind words, Scott!

      Today's Bug Fixes

The team just pushed several bug fixes live:

    • Comments made in both Forums and on articles are now both appearing in the home page’s Recent Comments module
    • The Reply function on comments now works. The Edit & Delete functions should soon follow.
    • Videos can now be embedded into comments.
    • Images can be inserted into comments using an external URL
    • Folks were having to log back in to the site every time they visited. Now, most folks should be able to stay logged in for a month before being prompted to log back in.

re: the controls to Reply/Edit/Quote/Delete your comments are missing or not working

They are probably separate bugs, as article comments operate on a completely different plug-in than Forums do.

But I’ve logged your issue onto our bug list. We’ll get on it early next week.

    Thanks for flagging!

    cheers,

      Agreed!

    Brushog —

We’ll be talking in depth about all of those (and quality sleep!) during our Living Capital panel at next weekend’s PP seminar. Sounds like you’ve been reading my notes!

Yes, we are still discovering what’s possible with our bodies (and minds) if we treat them well. The field of epigenetics, which you refer to, is fasinating right now. We’re learning how to unlock all sorts of long-term benefits by adopting lifestyle behaviors that serve us better.

      Some additional context

To the clunkiness of the discussions here, I agree things could be organized more intuitively.

What has tied our hands in fixing this (over the past 1.5 years!) has been the interminable re-build of this site’s back end. While our IT firm has been preparing to migrate us from Drupal to WordPress, we haven’t been able to invest in making architectural changes to the current site.

That’s the bad news. The good news is we are mere weeks away from finishing this migration.

Once on Word Press, I’ll have more flexiblity to re-arrange the Forums threads. In fact, I’ve already taken a first pass at doing so on the dev site. They should be more intuitive to navigate — and if not, I’ll be able to react quickly to the feedback of this community.

And FYI: this site does still have a Controversial Topics Forum. If the majority strongly feels there’s a particular topic that needs to be relegated there, we can accommodate.
