Site upgrade complete – new look and navigation

    by Chris Martenson

    Tuesday, September 9, 2008, 10:45 AM

The main software for the site has been upgraded and the site is much faster than before.  Over the next few weeks, how the site looks and navigates will be changing.  I ask for your patience as I try new things out. Also, there may be a few little glitches along the way, so please let me know about them if you spot any.

I also ask you to keep those suggestions and tips coming. What would you do?  What would you change?

The most immediate change is that the home page will now consist of what used to be Breaking News, but will now be called the Crash Concepts Blog.  The blog format will be easier to navigate, and, most excitingly, will allow for your comments to be posted alongside the news…

Crash Course intro blurb needs updating, too.

The intro saying you can learn everything in under 3 hours? Not so much. 🙂 I’m pleased to nit-pick this as I’m delighted with the depth and breadth you’ve brought to this, but I recommend you change it to say “in less than four hours.”

Wendy, I’ve modified the text per your suggestion to be as accurate as possible.

I know it seems like forever, but the course is currently running 158 and 3/4 minutes or 2.65 hours.  As long as I can keep the last three chapters to less than 7 minutes each, I can still claim “about three hours”.

    Wish me luck….

    Link suggestion

Chris: One way that would really make the site a lot better for all of us would be to remove those annoying links that work only after you pay some money. I’m always stopped by them. 🙂
PS: Site is great, info better, but message keeps me up at night. Stay healthy for us all please!

Katekels – I agree and the site upgrade is going to allow content to be managed in a way that is much cleaner and healthier for all involved.

It’s on the list, but might take a week or two to get to.  I am just thrilled to finally be working with a real pro who can help make all this happen.

    Not so good in Firefox

In Firefox everything is jumbled, and you can’t even see the register or signin pages at all. Just a heads up. Great site on IE though, thanks for your efforts! 🙂

      What version of FF are

What version of FF are you using?  All I use is FF and that is where I am most sure that everything is correct…

Oh wait!  I know, maybe… FF allows one to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to resize the text.  Unfortunately it is not possible for me to afford to recode the site to account for all possible font sizes that people might choose.

Try reducing the font size by holding down ctrl key while operating the wheel.
