Milwaukee was once known as "The Machine Shop to the World".   Wisconsin lost some 100K manufacturing jobs during the NAFTA disaster and much more before that.   But still Wisconsin leads the nation in per capita manufacturing jobs.   Travel the backroads and you find machine shops everywhere.  So with America's only way out of its mess being to manufature goods and export, will Wisconsin claim the lead given all the manufacturing knowledge still in this region?

(A little known fact: Briggs & Stratton once made 45,000 small engines per day, ~ year 1993, in Milwaukee/Wauwatosa.)
