Is Estate Jewelry a Wise Investment?

Is it safe to invest in annuities now? Are gold, silver, and platinum reliable mediums of exchange? Is estate jewelry a wise investment? Land?

Annuities are paying ~4.25% right now and that's not keeping up with real inflation and there's a restriction in liquidity. NO

Gold, silver and platinum won't buy bread nor pay your mortgage without first converting them back to dollars, so NO, but YES because converting PMs to dollars is very easy.

Jewelry holds a portion of it's value in the consumer's view of it as art. If consumers are in the mood to buy art when you are in the mood to sell you made a good investment. However, if art falls low on the consumer's list of desirables and you have to sell for melt value, you are going to take a loss. NO

Rich, workable land with lumber and water are always marketable, but I am waiting for the prices to come down before I invest in land. I think another year or two will provide some amazing buys compared to today's prices. Buying a better piece of property to live on should not be viewed as an investment of cash, but rather an investment in your future happiness. If you buy a great new place to live that you can afford and the price of surrounding properties drops dramatically your investment in your happiness is not diminished one whit.
