Total National Strike April 15-18th Send a Peaceful Message.

When I first joined the CM site there was a member I came to respect very much. She was well read, well informed, had a sense of right verses wrong that resonated within me. A few months later she left the site saying the only thing most members here are concerned with 'is protecting their nest eggs'. I was sad to see her go.

I have recently come to the conclusion that from a global political perspective, things are getting worse not better,  - more police, more cameras, more loss of personal freedoms, more theft of our money and futures. In the last 3 days I read about  Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich changing his once adamant stance on Obamacare after a ride in Air Force One;  then that John McCain has introduced two bills in the US Senate that are about as Machiavellian as they could be, referring to S.3081, a bill that would authorize the federal government to detain American citizens indefinitely without trial, and S.3002, a bill that would authorize the federal government to regulate vitamins, minerals, and virtually all health and natural food products.

So I think it is time to get, 'political' and do things above pulling money out of the banks and buying gold, and above trying to wake sleeping sheeple. Here is a peaceful form of protest, which I am supporting and hope you consider it as well. United we stand and can send Washington a message that can't be ignored.

We, The People, Call For Total National Strike April 15-18

The spark of Freedom is igniting within the hearts and minds of the people in America, as well as globally, and we all have the moral obligation to fan the flames. The time for taking our freedom for granted has passed.

It is now time to stand for freedom individually and collectively, and make the sacrifices necessary in order to reclaim it. But it is easier than most of us know.

There are only 3 things we need in order to ensure success. We must be Pro-Active, Non Violent, and Massive in numbers. There are over 300 million of us, here, in this country, trying to survive under corporate fascism. It is time to stop the so-called "Wheels of Progress" from crushing our lives and our planet.

Those of us who realize just how much peril our country, our lands, our homes, our children, our descendants, and our future are in, need now to come together in peaceful, proactive non-compliance. The system is dependent upon our cooperation, and thrives on it daily. Those of us who know where we're headed, have a duty to defend our families and our freedoms, but we no longer have to die in order to do that. This time we use our numbers, and we use brains, not bullets.

This time we participate in "Peaceful Evolution, Revolutionary Thoughts, and the Resolution to see it through". This time we stand as one. No longer will we support a corporate agenda that is able to take our money because their privately owned media misrepresents the news and lies to us in order to keep us in the dark. They exploit our ignorance, making it more and more difficult to find the truth, because they realize that if we knew what their real agenda was, we'd stop it immediately.....

Re: Total National Strike April 15-18th Send a Peaceful ...

John,

In your opinion, how is this different than the Tea Parties and the brutal town hall meetings of late?

Did you hear that a recent (earlier this week) request by Rush Limbaugh for folks to call the capitol switchboard was so successful it crashed the phone system?

http://soitgoesinshreveport.blogspot.com/2010/03/rush-helps-crash-capitol-phone-lines.html

I just don't know what it is going to take to get the attention, and more importantly action of the USgov, but it seems to me all this makes us feel better (at least temporarily) because we are doing something, but yet nothing positive comes of it. Just more lip service and spending.

While I support your efforts, I just don't think politicians are listening. They seem too busy blaming the other party and pushing personal and "contributors" agendas. I hope I am wrong, but I think it will take a brick wall for congess to change directions. They need to be left with no other options, this is the system as it really is. We are not there yet, but speeding forward at full speed no doubt.

Please don't let my pessimism dissuade you or anyone else if you think this has a chance.

Hi Ready,

Have to admit, I'm having trouble getting information about the latest Tea Party and Town Hall meetings. It would seem a ploy of MSM is not to let us know about unhappy Americans. If you have any good websites for this information, I'd appreciate it.

The thing I like about this peaceful movement is an impact on commerce and consumerism.

Hi John,

I guess that's really my point - great big fuss (I was personally part of) and then poof - nothing. The MSM is doing a great job of marinalizing the efforts of anyone not on board with the status quo.

There are many movements - (i.e. End the Fed) but they are not powerful enough because they are not acting together. There is no critical mass.

[soapbox]

My belief is we need more pain before real change is possibile. Remember just after 9/11 how the whole country came together, and people put aside differences and acted together without even thinking about it? That's the type of jolt we need to begin to coalesce all these different factions fighting basically the same war on different fronts into one group of people with enough numbers to effect true change. I just hope when it happens a George Washington appears to lead, as we Americans have become so soft and comfort driven that we may follow anyone who promises to return to the way things were.

[/soapbox]

Ready,

The movement is alive and strong.  Weather has slowed things down a bit the last month or so.  You should be able to find a local group.  In addition to regular meetings, there is information sharing as well as action plans afoot.

Very interesting.

A few years ago, I would have dismissed this sort of "strike protest" as a childish, unconstructive move that would serve no useful purpose, but which would have the adverse effect of even further damaging the economy due to the lost productivity of the participants for these 3 days.

But I'm ready to change my thinking! The TEA Party has been, to a large extent, marginalized by the MSM. The news reports have portrayed them as a bunch of wing-nuts and crackpots, and have generally given the nation the impression that these people are few in numbers, and irrational in their thinking.

The value I see in something like this would be that it could create a news event that simply could not be ignored. If you got enough people to participate that everyone's lives were affected in some small way, it would be impossible for the MSM to ignore or margninalize how many people share the concern.

This sort of economic protest doesn't usually suit my fancy, but if the participants can manage to fully embrace the stated values of keeping it peaceful, non-violent, and massive in numbers, I think it's a good idea. The reason I normally abhor these sorts of things is that they often devolve into mayhem situations where the police are outnumbered and people so inclined are able to get away with massive acts of vandalism, malicious property destruction, and so forth. If the organizers can pull something off on a big scale and keep it from deteriorating into a big vandalism party, my hat is off to them.

Good points, Erik, and in this case we are not confronting any police and there is no opportunity for violence. We can even 'phone in sick' for work - a national cold, perhaps?

If you remember Bush's comments after 9/11 - 'send a message to the terrorists and get out there and spend, spend, spend' - that was obviously the bankers talking and it is to them that the message needs to be vioced.

We have so much power just with our wallets and credit cards!

Hummm. That gives me an Idea. What if we had a mock run on the banks? On the same day, "everyone" withdraws exactly the same odd amount of money from their bank accounts. A small amount. Don't want to create a real panic and have the banks shut down. But if millions of people withdrew something like $15.73 (you numerologists can figure out the right numbers to use Money mouth) on April 15th, I expect it would get some attention. Then go spend it at you local coffee shop or market.

I like it.  Long lines of people at the banks making a widthdrawl $17.76 would be a great way to make a point to the TPTB and hopefully wake up the masses to the current situation.

Both of these are excellent ideas.  With huge numbers, it could not be ignored.  One downside I see is that if it's heavily advertised early, then only a few participate, it would send the exact opposite message than intended, that the people have not been pushed far enough and are not willing to step up to the task of stopping it.

Well one way would be to get behind the movement, and if this one doesn't work maybe the next one will.

This one has a very good concept and here's a youtube we can send to our email lists:

If nothing else, living in NYS has been great for humor value the last couple years.  First Eliot Spitzer and his dalliances, then my former Rep. Eric "The Tickler" Massa and as of yesterday, the tea party candidate for Gov., Carl Paladino (Buffalo area developer who has been firing up the tea baggers), sending emails containing racist comments, porn and bestiality.  The local tea baggers still staunchly support him, but the state party has thrown him under the bus.  I can hardly wait to see what kind of demonstration they cook up.

It don't get no better. Laughing
