Smithsonian's predictions for the next 40 years

Did anyone else get last month's Smithsonian Magazine??  They did a special for their 40th anniversary which included many people's predictions and theories about what the future would look like.  Peak oil was mentioned over and over,  but for the most part people reported a very rosy view of how things would be.

The next month;'s magazine included letters from people saying they thought the view was overly optimistic.  But, if you read the articles there are alot of "depends" in there!  These rosy outcomes depend on people grasping the problems and moving toward solutions.  Although, I personally think the overpopulation article was ridiculously rosy.

I'd like to hear some opinions on this.

Did you know that the Smithsonian has been funded by the Kochs
as detailed in this NewYorker article?

"Covert Operations"

They have an exhibit funded by Koch that paints a rosy picture
regarding climate change.

To me, this makes the Smithonian less objective and more suspect.

I believe this makes the Smithsonian's perspective skewed and explains the rosy view so thank you for pointing it out.

So what is the connection between the Kochs and Murdoch?
