Indian Farmers Fight Billionaire Mittal, Posco for Water Rights

[Bloomberg] Indian Farmers Fight Billionaire Mittal, Posco for Water Rights

Indian steel company and government versus 25,000 Indian farmers. This type of action could be a horror-show and unfortunately I don't hold much hope for the farmers.

Let me qualify my underlying suspicion better, do you think we will see these types of actions (eg. human displacement/relocation) more brazenly justified politicians and corporations as "for the good of the country/economy"? I could, quite easily.

It is already happening here in the USA. Whether water rights dissagreements are politically motivated (I heard a CA Republican congressman say in an interview that he'd been threatened by the Democratic leadership to vote a certain way or his constituents' water would not go back on) OR if it's because of too much development and too many humans for the carrying capacity of the land, the results are the same. Heck, it might be both.

And don't get me started on how overdeveloped the Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV areas are.
