GREAT BOOK: Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic (military keynesianism debunked)

IMO, his Chalmers' Blowback Trilogy is a very accurate portrayal and proved to be quite prophetic as the orginal was published before 9/11 and the others have spelled out the consequences of not only the last 10 years but of the great American military build-up and imperialism since WW II.

Check out...

Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic

Chalmers Johnson summarizes the intent of the book Nemesis by stating:

“In Nemesis, I have tried to present historical, political, economic, and philosophical evidence of where our current behavior is likely to lead. Specifically, I believe that to maintain our empire abroad requires resources and commitments that will inevitably undercut our domestic democracy and in the end produce a military dictatorship or its civilian equivalent. The founders of our nation understood this well and tried to create a form of government – a republic – that would prevent this from occurring. But the combination of huge standing armies, almost continuous wars, military Keynesianism, and ruinous military expenses have destroyed our republican structure in favor of an imperial presidency. We are on the cusp of losing our democracy for the sake of keeping our empire. Once a nation is started down that path, the dynamics that apply to all empires come into play – isolation, overstretch, the uniting of forces opposed to imperialism, and bankruptcy. Nemesis stalks our life as a free nation.”

Watched the Republican Debate the other night.

It's clear that most of these clowns do not have a clue or at least are not willing to say the truth in public. Ron Paul is the closest to the truth but sometimes he does not articulate himself well and the format of these debates is certainly not conducive to him expounding upon some of the very important points and concepts he alludes to in his short responses.

There's much truth and gold in some of the points Paul hints at during the debates but it's clearly WAY OVER most people's heads, even most Republicans and Tea Partiers who should be more familiar with his perspective. The public in general is lost and brainwshed no mater how "smart" they think they are.

I think Paul should challenge some of these phony front runners to a real debate and have a chance to really expound on these themes. However, they would never accept. He'd make them look far too silly, unprepared and incompetent.

As far as Obama, the liberals and socialists? Don't even get me started.

I think both parties are a complete jokes and full of deception and either candidate would essentially be a puppet. The office of the American President in our present society is nothing but a sorry stage act and horrific side show. Sad but true.

You want evidence? C'mon, back to back we got Bush & Obama. Can it get any worse? Well I suppose Palin or Biden would be worse. Scary how close either of those numbnuts are or have come to assuming the Presidency as Vice President or Vice Presidential candidates.

Man, what has this come to?

I do think the book is a very important and worthwile read though. Please do not delete this post but move if necessary. Thank you.
