Eliot Coleman & Joel Salatin to headline October event

 

JOEL SALATIN AND ELIOT COLEMAN TO HEADLINE

FARMING AND FEEDING OF THE MINDS 2010

 

October 16 & 17, 2010

Silt, Colorado - Divide Creek Farm will host a special two day event - Farming & Feeding of the Minds  - featuring Joel Salatin http://www.polyfacefarms.com, one of the heroes in Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma and the movie Food Inc., and Eliot Coleman http://www.fourseasonfarm.com, organic farming pioneer and author of The New Organic Grower.

The two-day autumn event will feature workshops aimed to inspire area farmers and gardening enthusiasts, informative presentations and feasting on locally grown, raised and produced food prepared by Chef Ryan Hardy of Montagna at The Little Nell.

Additional guests will include Woody Tasch, founder of Slow Money, and other notables in the local food movement.

I saw Salatin, Coleman and Tasch at the Slow Money gathering in Vermont in June.  Salatin and Coleman have a wealth of knowledge and experience in farming and Tasch is the money guy if you are planning on getting into the local food movement.

Woody is about the money; don't go to him for money.  That said, the Slow Money meetup in the Boston area is exploring giving growers and other food entrepreneurs a forum for capital-seeking.

The event will be fabulous.  The presentation skills of those two producers are superb.
