PARIS (AP) -- The European Central Bank's chief says the euro remains a "credible" currency despite the debt crisis that has required the bailouts of Ireland and Greece and raised worries about Portugal and Spain.

.....Trichet insisted "the euro is a credible currency. The euro is a currency that is considered just as credible for the next 10 years as for the last 12 years."

Gee Claude, getting a bit touchy?  I would call that an incredible statement. Thow doth protest too loudly.

Using hydrogen in a derigible is a good idea.

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is a monument to our engineering prowess.

The Euro is a credible currency and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!

Trichet and Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf separated at birth?

European Central Bank chief Jean-Claude Trichet insisted Saturday that the euro was a credible currency but said tighter regulation was needed of banks, markets and government policies.

European Central Bank head Jean-Claude Trichet rose to the defense of the euro Friday, describing it as a "credible" currency that was not in crisis.

Mr Trichet claimed the benefits of the Euro for citizens are:

  • credible medium and long-term protection of purchasing power in the Euro-zone;
  • credible medium and long-term preservation of savings;

So there you have it from Mr, one note samba, Trichet. The Euro has always been "credible" and will continue to be "credible" until Mr Trichet loses his langue de bois.
