...worht of daily oil consumption you could fill enough 55-gallon steel drums stacked end to end capaple of encircle the earth 1 1/2 times each day. You could ring the earth with steel drums 560 times each year.

Here's the math: Convert 42-gallon barrels to 55-gallon drums

An oil barrel is 42 gallons
A 55 gallon steel drum is 3 feet tall by 22 inches wide
A mile is 5,280 feet
The circumference of the earth is 24,901 miles
The speed of sound (Mach 1) is 768mph

(88,000,000 x 42gal) / 55gal = 67,200,000 steel drums
(67,200,000 x 3ft) / 5,280 = 38,182 miles long
38,182 / 24,901 = 1.53 or 1 1/2 time around the earth each day
(38,182 miles x 365days) / 24,901 = 560 times around the earth each year.

The speed at which you'd have to lay those drums end to end to cover the 38,182 mile distance?
(38,182 miles per day / 24 hours) = 1,591mph
1,591mph / 768mph = 2.07 or Mach 2

Olympic Pool Volume: 648,000 gallons*
Olympic Pool Volume: ~15,428 barrels of oil equivalent

Olympic Pool dimensions: 50m x 25m x (2m depth)**
1 meter = 3.2808399 feet
1 mile = 5 280 feet
Olympic pool length: 164 feet
Olympic pool width: 82 feet
Olympic pool depth: 6.5 feet

88,000,000bbl / 15,428 = 5,704 Olympic pools of worth oil are consumed each day by the world economy

5,704 x 365days = 2,081,960 Olympic pools worth of oil are consumed each year

At 164 feet long, if you were to build a year's worth of Olympic pools how many miles would they stretch?

(2,081,960 x 164ft) / 5,280ft  = 64,667 miles or 2.6 times around the earth at the equator each year
