The Fed Stooges - My break down of the 60 minutes interview

Hey folks, I created another video that will hopefull shed some light on the current tragi-comedy and took apart a few nuggets from the recent 60 minutes interview with Jerome Powell.

If you like this, share it with friends, enemies and in-laws alike!

Also, let's discuss.  I am really having to turn to the lighter side to avoid being angry all the time.

Jerome's net worth

Jerome Powell's net worth is $100 million? Wait, why did we expect change from him again?

The elite class knows only the travails and needs of the elite class. At this point, to expect otherwise seems like more Hopium. They know nothing of student loan problems, credit card problems, rent problems, under-employment, unemployment, or the myriad of other issues facing the average middle- or low-income person. I wonder how many of them even know how to load a dishwasher, potty-train a child, get a stain out of a shirt, or cook a solid meal. Do they commute to work through traffic? Clean their own toilets?

My disdain is competing with my rage to see which one gets higher every day.

Oops. I pissed off the gate keepers (being throttled)

View counts are the currency of Youtube.  More view counts and your material is both perceived as being more relevant and it qualifies for greater revenue sharing via ads.

So view counts matter a lot.

The above piece of work, which is legitimate critique and humor poked at the US Federal Reserve is being view throttled by Youtube presently.

Here's the data captured over just a few minutes of time.  Note that the view count remains stuck at 2,680 even as the "thumbs up" and comment counts climb.

Capture #1:

Capture #2:

See that?  The view count is frozen while other measures continue to climb.  How exactly does one get 14 more "thumbs up" while the view count doesn't budge by even one?

Further, at Twitter when I put this video out to 19k+ subscribers, it got some of the lowest post traction I've seen in days.  Especially for such 'grabby' content to my subscriber base.

As Voltaire said, "To know who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize."

The social media giants of today have taken it upon themselves to be the arbiters of "acceptable content" and that now demonstrably includes protecting the Federal Reserve from criticism.

That was a short hop, skip, and a jump from Youtube deciding to protect people from "conspiracy videos' which included a lot of very detailed, scientific inquiries into many subjects.

"The Church" has ruled!  There shall be no other talk besides that the sun revolves around the earth!  Also, the Fed is your friend and deserves no criticism.

But, yeah, land of the free and all that.

Bring to mind this quote:

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

    ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The view count is glitching higher, buit not as fast as the engagement.  I watch these things very closely.

Here are the last several Update videos in a row comparing the view count to the "thumbs up"

  • 20,595 & 922 for a ratio of 22.33
  • 14,300 & 739 for a ratio of 19.35
  • 7.053 & 363 for a ratio of 19.42
  • 10,567 & 509 for a ratio of  20.76

As you can see, there's a pretty stable "20 to 1" ratio here of views to thumbs up votes.

Today?

As of this very second the numbers are 3,307 and 404 for a ratio of 8.18

The count should be closer to 8k, which would mark a very successful video given it was released roughly 12 hours ago in the middle of the night....

Maybe there's some glitch that will be corrected later?  If not, then this is what throttling looks like.

Youtube is owned by Google

And if you don't think Google is owned by the NSA, note where it was developed, how it was developed, goals and methods of each.

Figures/Data worked particularly well!

The car sales and various loan delinquency figures worked particularly well ... timely and easily refute the Powell's answers on 60 mins!

David

P.S.   That slightly blurry background works, IMHO!

Throttling on Youtube

While it's always possible that your video was throttled due to Fed-related content, its much more likely that the word "stooge" was considered a pejorative and in its effort to stem the spread of hate-related videos, Youtube's algo blacklisted you for that.

Not sure if blacklisted is the right term...

First, if the word "stooges" is somehow considered "hate" then the snowflake effect has become a virtual blizzard of inanity.  A nation in decline is one that has its messaging controlled by psychopaths that cannot be bothered to distinguish between feelings potentially being harmed and the physical harm of dropping bombs on people.

Maybe I should also note that Youtube somehow missed an entire child porn/creepy angle until that guy pointed it out to them and then advertisers began dropping out.  I bet they could tune their algos against that obvious nastiness really easy, but that didn't happen so it clearly wasn't a priority for the algo writers.

Second, what we experienced was a stoppage of the video counts.  Lots of people still engaging with the video as measured by comments and thumbs up votes, but as of today the ratios to view-counts are still skewed heavily to the downside.  Views would need to increase by 50% to get back in line.

Third, I don't know to what extent actual blacklisting might have happened and how many people did not see it at all because of a failure of hte algos to deliver the content or promote it.

As with Zerohedge and Facebook, there's no guide n this, no feedback, no listed rules anywhere that might tell you what sorts of words or content are deemed hateful or unworthy of promotion.

But we can all guess.  Anything that helps sell more crap to consumers will get a pass.  Anything that fits in with the current DNC talking points gets an easier pass than RNC talking points, but those are still better than anything Libertarian or otherwise not aligned with the corporatacracy.

Instead of blacklisted, my sense is that the algo can either perform like oil in a transmission or sand.

We got a handful of sand this time.

Maybe I'll start reviewing Kylie Jenner beauty products instead.  I am sure that will be like a bucket of high grade synthetic lubricant.

Might be just me....

Chris, I think the videos are great.  I'll leave the details of the presentation to those with the expertise.  Look, I can only imagine how you must feel constantly wading into the swamp of our 3E situations.  Comedic relief has to have a place to keep personal balance, I believe.  I don't have TV so I didn't see the 60 minutes episode, but your take-down was valuable and revealing. But, I must say that I felt using the term "stooge", which all of us here on PP probably enjoyed and appreciated, lessens the high standards of your critical data and presentation.  If the goal is to get the word out, civility will work better than name-calling.  I think a slightly more serious tone would have worked better.  It'd be interesting to see how the same vid without the "stooge" reference would fare on the social sites.....Aloha, Steve.

You're totally right. Stooge is a pretty light pejorative. Don't we have bigger fish to fry? Yet, as others mentioned, Youtube is Google. And if you type "stooge" into Google, the answer box has a "derogatory" chip overtop of it, so we know how Google has classified this word. My guess is still that the video wasn't suggested in the "related" area of Youtube as a result of the word "stooge." More specific guidance from Youtube to creators would prevent the proliferation of folk theories about why these things happen. And probably lead to better content too.

But really, the mainstream media can promote politicians using inflammatory language to play with the emotions of their viewership, but we can't use the word stooge to refer to people who are clearly minions/lackeys of vested interests? It's another demonstrable instance of differential application of standards--if you are part of the in-group, you can use potentially inflammatory media techniques, while if you are are dissident voice speaking truth to power, you are barely allowed to be sarcastic.

Perhaps We Should Consider This Term

It's not listed/tagged as "derogatory" and I believe it (or a near equivalent term) has been used by a PP poster to describe another poster and his comments in the not too distant past.

douchebag
/ˈduːʃbaɡ/
noun
noun: douche bag; plural noun: douche bags; noun: douchebag; plural noun: douchebags

    1. a small syringe for douching the vagina, especially as a contraceptive measure.
    2. informal•North American
an obnoxious or contemptible person, typically a man.
