    YouTube

The official PeakProsperity.com channel is http://www.youtube.com/ChrisMartensondotcom.

Currently, we are in need of someone who can write short (1 – 2 sentence) descriptions for each of the 20 chapters.  Please check out the post in the "Announcements" folder for more information.

Thanks!

    Re: YouTube

Because of the millions who watch YouTube, and because Facebook and MySpace can play YouTube videos, I think the team should seriously consider a 10 minute video to send here.

The video should not actually cover any ground that the course does, but should have a few minutes on explaining about the three "Eees" and then a few minutes on Chris’s credentials and that he has spent four years putting this free couse together. The last minute on what the viewer will learn after completing this course.

It should be called something catching; "James Bond is powerless to act", or "The world is not enough" or "Bush can’t hack it" or "Obama cannot survive this legacy" or anything that may catch the attention. This is the place to debate the titles.

Personally I would suggest allowing Brigade members a copy of this video so they could each put it up with one of the catchy titles we could work on here. This way we get more than one crack at the cookie. If we organise this properly, we will bring many to this website. We would need to ensure nobody uses the same title twice.

In addition, those who are on Facebook and MySpace can import the YouTube videos and send them around to all our friends and ask them to send on the link to all their friends.

Just my tuppence (two cents) worth.

In addition, the video should also be available in MP4 format or whatever, so people can carry it around in their iPods, Zens or other MP3 players that play videos. This could be available on the general website for all to become ambassadors.

I said above ten minutes but can see that this could expand as each may want something added. But try to discipline yourselves to ten minutes. You need to ensure nobody switches off before the end or they won’t see the link to the website.

Also if the video is too long, it will be a drain on the tiny iPods etc. People will be less inclided to show it to whoever they meet. And, to play it to
each and all.

    Re: YouTube

Just seen you have already put up Chapter 19 on YouTube.

I beg to submit that this is not the answer.

When I used to advise on people’s CVs (resumes) I always asked. "What is your objective?" The answer was nearly alwasy "To get a job". This was always the wrong objective. The right objective should always be "To get an interview" as the jobs always go to the people who have been seen. If your cv suggests you have everything that is needed, it gets put in the OK pile. But nobody in that pile will get the job. The job will go to one of the people who are "wheeled in".

So my question to you is "What is your objective?" Is it to let them sum up and think that there is no need now to watch the whole course – and in doing so miss many of the excellent and salient points?

I would respectfully suggest that this is not your objective and that your true objective is to encourange them to your website to take the full course.

One of my favourite sayings, taken from an Anthony Robinson course is: "The quality of your life depends on the quality of the questions you ask". In this case, before you do anything, ask yourself: "What is my true objective?"

I would suggest taking down Chapter 19 fromYouTube soon and putting up a carefully crafted short video designed to whet people’s appetite and bring them to the website.

    Re: YouTube

Ampers,

I agree with you.  I was had suggested that Chapter 19 not be the first video to put on YouTube because it gave too much away.  Others thought it was a good "trailer" that would peak people’s interest and cause them to want to watch the rest of the course.

That being said, Chris’ objective is to spread the word as far and wide as possible.  With that in mind, the plan is to post the entire Crash Course on YouYube (excluding Chapter 20).  The thinking is that most people will eventually want to go to the website to view the higher quality video anyway.

In the end, it all depends on what we are trying to do.  If the objective is to bring as many people to PeakProsperity.com as possible (for ad revenue, etc.), then the "teaser" concept is a definite winner.  However, if the idea is to simply make the Crash Course go viral and be seen by as many people as humanly possible, then we want to make it as available as possible (as was done with the DVD which is sold at COST).  I think right now Chris is favoring spreading the word with the understanding that people will still come to the site for additional content.

    Re: YouTube

Yes, a good point. However from a marketing perspective, I am not too sure whether this is too good an idea.

A good teaser will bring people to the site to watch the presentation in a logical order. A jumble of chapters on YouTube – and they always seem to get jumbled – I have attempted other courses this way – and unless you don’t care in which order people will watch, then I agree. Go ahead  I have to be disciplined to watch in the right order and sometimes it is hard to find some of the videos. On youtube they sometimes get lost in the search for a while.

I took the poker 12 lessons (Poker Heaven) there and in the end had to go to another company for one of the lessons.

This needs careful thought, please believe me.

    Re: YouTube

Ampers,

I know exactly what you are talking about with chapters getting lost in the searches.  In most cases, however, you can go to the "channel" that hosts the video and get all of them.  Many times, there is even a playlist you can use that will play the chapters back to back for you.  This is what we plan to set up on YouTube.

We’re still cogitating about the best way to do this so nothing is cast in stone right now.  I love the trailer idea and would like to see if any of the brigade members is interested in taking on such a project.

Thanks.

Luc
