The speed at which our military is being destroyed is shocking.

Subtle things like “free” college and healthcare for all.  These used to be the big carrots to get people to volunteer.

Add in the vax, the wokeness, Afghanistan, just wait until October 1 when their paychecks stop coming.

    Hard to believe

I don’t see how the Secretary could expect everyone to go by 10AM the next day.  Logistically this would be impossible.  I also don’t see significant numbers of people walking off the job given the prospects for court marshal.  Mass retirements perhaps.  My understanding is that if you aren’t eligible to retire you are screwed.  If you refuse the direct order to get vaccinated you are at best dishonorably discharged.  I don’t know but you may lose your pension which for most military people would be disastrous.

No, of course not.  56 years ago when I entered the Navy, they didn’t ask whether we wanted vaccinations.  They just lined us up and shot us with those air pressure guns.  They did warn us not to move when we got the shots, but that was it.  The military is not a democracy.

Today we have an all volunteer military.  If you don’t want vaccinations, don’t join.

It will be interesting since a few years ago the switched the retirement system.  There was a time where you had to do twenty years to get anything.

They switched systems so now those starting out pay into a TSP fund.  It saves the government a ton of money because it doesn’t pay out nearly as much as the retire at 38yo and get 1/2 your pay for life version.  The flip side is you can get out of the military after your four years with a retirement fund that you get to keep.

In the switchover IIRC there was some huge buyout so lot of people that didn’t really think it through took the deal and switched to the new system.  There are probably lots of folks sitting at 10+ years in that don’t have a lot to gain by going all they way to twenty.

Our military is about to be gutted.

There have been quite a few retirement packages put in. (the retirement list is long) There are also been many requests for transfer to the IRR for people who have already finished their initial enlistment. I also have heard of a few potential resigning of commissions by officers but I am not 100% sure on that one. There is also a backlog of people requesting exemptions.

the everybody has to get it by 10am is pure bull crap. Apparently there is a 90 day window.

Realistically, to address the above video’s hypothetical, would a pilot of one of the world’s greatest aircraft choose to give that up and walk away with his/her retirement package to avoid taking a shot?  Puhleeze.  Plus, to get the high priced training they have to obligate themselves for some number of years.

IIf the individual is enlisted, they are already obligated for some period of years.  If they choose to disobey a direct order to get vaccinated, they could get a less than honorable discharge and walk away with a retirement package, which would diminish employment prospects.  All to avoid taking a shot?  That should be a textbook definition of stupid

Military people just have too much to lose.

Well Doug. Everyone is different. I know of a couple that are asking for a court Marshall rather than an other than honorable discharge to fight for freedom. I guess that is the true measure of a person. Someone who will do the right thing when it costs so much.

First, it’s court martial.

Second, you’re assuming not getting a vaccination is the right thing.  Folks around here talk about getting a shot as the moral equivalent of being marched off to the gas Chambers.  It isn’t.  Taking a safe effective shot to protect yourself, your family and those around you is the smart and ethical thing to do.

Covid 19 can be defeated if everyone gets the vaccination.  There’s no real debate about that.  Only in the dark corners of the conspiracy web is that still discussed.  Most of the time the msm gets it right.  The FLCCC is a bunch of quacks that are justly condemned by the traditional medical and scientific communities.

Biden and the military are doing the right thing.  Get over it.

Many do have a lot to lose and will have to get the shot.

But many, especially after the year of the pandemic are probably at a point where they can retire and meanwhile no one is joining.
