Calling all Wikipedians:

We are looking to have a few entries associated with listed in Wikipedia.  I am looking for one or two people who is/are experienced in the culture and politics of Wikipedia to post the following articles associated with the Crash Coruse:

1.  Article about the Crash Course itself.  Should discuss the overall message, summarize the contents, and list overviews of each chapter.  Should also show references to web culture and the Crash Course.

2.  Article about Chris himself.  This can be somewhat more brief and can be a paraphrase of the "About Chris" page.  It should detail Chris’ mission but not seem too preachy or culty.  Should be a simple historical reference to Chris.

Both of these items will likely be deleted within minutes of being posted by a self-appointed rule enforcer citing advertising violations.  It will then be up to our Wikipedian (needs to be very familiar with Wikipedia culture) to argue the case for the articles on the talk pages.  They will need to explain the fact that this is a grassroots movement, not a web-page advertisement.  Examples such as Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 911 (not posted by Moore) and others should be cited for a good argument.  Our Wikipedian will need to follow up and maintain the article(s) to ensure their accuracy over time.

If you are interested in taking on this role, please reply here with description of your Wikipedia experience.  Ideally, the candidate should have engaged in various aspects of Wikipedia culture such as discussion pages and debate, as well as have posted other Wikipedia articles in the past.  The candidate should also have excellent writing abilities and be able to put together good informational content.

If you don’t think you can take on the task but know someone who you think might, please direct them to my attention ([email protected]).

If you have any questions, please post them as a reply to this message.
