    Where should I go?

I am concerned about each of the three issues posed within the Crash Course.

My wife and I live in the suburbs in Washington State and are thinking about improving our location. We would like something more rural and not in a toxic state. We also own houses in the Philippines as a backup.

Do you guys have any suggestions to look into? The best scenario would be to join a small community; my wife has extensive medical training.

    Where should I go?

My first choice would be Missouri.

If I were debating between Texas and Missouri, what advantages do you feel Missouri would have?

Rainfall. Soils. 4 seasons [ summers being more tolerable than Texas ], no border or border issues, red state, affordable acreage, strong ‘back to the land/self reliance’ community [ particularly in and around the Ozarks ].

Texas is a great state but the summers are hot and the climate is very dry. Half the state is desert. For homesteading/small farm/self sufficiency its not the best. Maybe northeastern Texas would be the best part of the state.

My choices would be [ in order ];

Missouri

Kentucky

Tennessee/West Virginia

The Dakotas

Yes, come join us in the Missouri Ozarks! We moved here from CA 32 years ago. Reasonable cost of living, clean air, water is plentiful, beautiful rivers for kayak and canoe floats, and plenty of independent, can-do folks!

I’m in Washington also, thinking about the same thing. Montana is another option if you don’t mind the cold winters. I think texas or florida are the best in terms of how their states are ran and their economies. There will also be a lot of people migrating there this year. Never been to Missouri

    Where should I go?

We also live in WA in a very rural touristy town and we are so rooted here I cant fathom leaving. Its also incredibly nuts right now and so pro V that im ready to run to the hills! But what hills to choose!! My husband is a full time fire fighter and I have a very successful retail business here. I have no idea ware to even look, we want a rural town thats not going to have mandates in a state with seasons and you can garden and homestead in! Also would love to run a business ware ever we go, and hubby would like to lateral to a different FD! Any suggestions? I would love to buy a small lodge somewhere, have been looking at different states for a month! The thought of staying terrifies me but the thought of leaving is so daunting- I dont want to uproot to the wrong place! Also if we leave we need to leave soon before this all gets worse or just stay and stick it out!! Anyone else feeling this way??
