What's your plan if (despite all best efforts) the world falls into total chaos?
Would love to hear comments and suggestions on the following:
The world will collapse, first financially and after nuclear ?
I started getting ready for this after living in US, UK, France and noticing the moral decline in the
Western world and the growing criminality, specially around the big city's?
Now living in my Bug-out location on a tropical Island in SE Asia, inside a mountain on my farm?
We dug out a Cave Home apartment inside the mountain on our 12 Ha farm and have lived there
the past 3 yrs in rural conditions and beautifull nature?
My plan is to ride out the chaos in a medium-small size city in Oregon. My hope is that our progressive/liberal population will retain a degree of civility on the way down. We have lots of farm land and water (knock on wood). What worries me about "bugging out" to a remote location is that one would then be more vulnerable to criminal gangs. Whereas in a smaller city, the (hopefully intelligent) population can organize to provide defense and optimize farmland, water and other resources.
The Left has a socialistic mindset. If they find out you have "extra" expect you to share. Plus look at the supposed AntiFa movement. They are acting way more Facist than what they are supposedly protesting/resisting against.
I lived in S. America for 23 years and of that, 13 years in Argentina. We bought an 8 ha property in the wine growing region in the Valle de Tupungato in 2006 and have done significant improvements.
We rebuilt the house (small and modest), repaired the 800,000l open air water tank, installed a security fence around the core of the house/garden area, leveled the growing area and planted alfalfa. There is a small plotof eucalyptus trees with commercial value and pear trees (probably needing replacement).
The property is just off a major road recently upgraded connecting Mendoza City/airport and Tunuyan, and is only 40 minutes from the international airport.
We have a well on property that is in need of repair but have surface water and potable water from a well on the neighbouring property (in condominium). There is encroaching urbanization, in the negative. We restored the property using permaculture principles but ran out of cash to complete.
My reasons for purchasing in Argentina is that it is a developed country (albeit with political/economic mismanagement issues) and relatively low population density. I believe that the southern cone is likely to be one of the more survivable parts of the world if the SHTF/climate change. And i love the Argentine lifestyle.
For personal reasons, we are sadly in position to start exploring the options for selling the property. I’d appreciate any input in how to pursue this. My guess is that this forum might have people who are interested in a property like this or who could point me in the direction of a land agent who handles this type of property.
Thanks for you input/feedback.

Yes, it’s a good time to get out of Argentina, although the capital controls are going to make that a bit difficult. The newly elected vice president Kirchner is a big fan of Venezuela’s Maduro (or at least she was openly so back when many people let her get away with it), and when her late husband and her were presidents up to 2015 they were eagerly following the Venezuela playbook. Now she’s back to try to finish the job. I hope she’s not as successful as Maduro has been in destroying his country and perpetuating himself in power. But she’s a hard worker, so she stands a chance. Good luck!
We are now sheltering in place at our hobby ranch in the Tx Hill Country. A true frontier county <5K population. One hundred+ miles from any large city. Our county seat has about 1800 pop. Much like the rest of the hill country in central and south Tx. It is not as remote as some of the areas Jim Rawles and others recommend but we did not want the harsh winters that go with that. The biggest negative is we are only 80 miles from Ft Hood, which would certainly get nuked. Thankfully prevailing winds would provide protection. It to0k us 10 years to get to this point as we were nearing the end of our careers. We are both believers in Yeshua and have been blessed to go to Israel many times.
