    Local Groups

We started a few local groups here on the site a few years ago and few took off.  I’ll take a look at what we had already set up in the past and point people to the link to facilitate contact.  I’ll also start any I see missing.
I’d like to keep up the online local groups so people new to PP can find local contacts.

    re: Local Groups

Barbara,

That’s a great idea!  Thanks.

I was going to start a group but I couldn’t figure it out.  If you could tell me how I’m willing to create a local one for my area.

    Broadcasting

Is there a method to post messages and/or meeting invites only within the local/private group (e.g. not all of PP)? Again, gut feeling is the broadcast function may be turning some otherwise interested folks off.

Thoughts?

    Not at moment, but…

T2H –

Right now, all comments made in Forums are posted to the PP.com’s ‘Recent Comments’ section.

With the new website, we do have the ability to create “private” groups that won’t broadcast comments like this. But it will require coding to make that happen.

Given the current buglist, it will be a while (i.e., weeks) before we’ll have capacity to work on new projects.

If the group here is highly in favor of having a private community, please let me know. If so, I’ll give this higher priority.

Agree. Lets not do FB and let us do PP

I support the idea of not being on FB and I believe a group right here on PP could work. Thank you to all who are helping set this up.

re: Not at moment, but… stop broadcasting to all

I do understand the need to keep some of the conversation in this group private.  However, given the need for social capital, I do think that we want to seriously consider making all local groups open to any members, even if they can’t come to seminars.
Been a bit swamped this week, but I will start trying to get the local groups in order.  If you have a local group that you don’t want open to any PP member, let me know privately, and I’ll remember not to publish your group.  And I’ll also ask if we can find a way to off line vet and facilitate reaching out to other people in the local area.

Our Seminar Contact List is up

Adam and I have a starter contact spreadsheet available.  Please note, there is a second tab for local groups.  If you have one in your area, please provide the information.  I think we can simply put the PP user name for the contact.

The existing list of groups are at this link:

Local PP Groups

We recommend reviving an existing group rather than starting another one in the same area

Was going to post a link here, but given the note on our postings going to the recent list on the main website, I’m going to hold off.  Be looking for the link in an email directly from Adam.
