    Such Disdain From Our Leaders

G7 gathering in Cornwall last June.

I’m sure they were smirking how easily the public have caved on this as they drank their champagne.

Seems like some of the UK MSM pushed back on this though.

Vaccine mandates for Canadian Federal government employees

https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/campaigns/covid-19/resuming-work/frequently-asked-questions/vaccines-immunization.html

In light of the announcement made Friday, August 13 2021 by the Government of Canada, COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for federal public service employees and Canadian Armed Forces members. For those few who are unable to be vaccinated, accommodation or alternative measures may be determined in each situation, to protect broader public health by reducing the risk of COVID-19.  As further details unfold, they will be communicated.

All Defence Team members are to continue respecting local public health measures, including mask wearing, physical distancing, and frequent hand washing.

Information on this web page will be updated soon, so please be sure to visit often.

Some notable info in the above FAQ doc. A few excerpts:

CAF Members
When developed, will the COVID-19 vaccine be mandatory for all CAF personnel? Will releasing/retiring members be able to opt out of receiving the vaccine?
Like other vaccines provided to CAF members, the COVID-19 vaccine will not be mandatory; this remains a voluntary option for all. Whether or not a vaccine will be made a requirement for an operation or a position is a decision to be made by operational commanders, in consultation with their medical advisors. However, CAF members may require proof of a COVID-19 vaccination in order to operate in certain high-risk environments or with vulnerable populations. …

…Has consideration been given to the CAF health system administering a COVID vaccine to civilians (unlike the flu vaccine effort)?

The core mandate of Canadian Forces Health Services is the provision of healthcare to CAF members. Vaccines for civilians are the responsibility of the provincial or territorial health system where they reside.

Will proof of immunization be mandatory to return to the workplace?
Proof of immunization will not be mandatory to return to the workplace. According to the Surgeon General CAF Vaccine Rollout Message on January 6, 2021, the COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory and will remain a voluntary option for all. …

Public Service Employees
Will DND public servants be mandated to get the COVID-19 Vaccine?
All Defence Team members are encouraged to get it to protect themselves and their loved ones. Health care and vaccines for civilian staff are the responsibility of the health care system of the province or territory in which they reside. DND management cannot require a public servant to get a vaccine, nor is mandatory vaccination supported under Canadian law. …

… How will DND ensure that the workplace is a respectful and safe space? Will there be career ramifications if I do not receive the vaccine?
There will be no negative impacts to your employment or your career should you choose not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. DND respects the rights of their employees. In accordance with current information from government and public health officials, the COVID-19 vaccine will be voluntary but is recommended for everyone’s safety to decrease the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.

I hope this provides some stress release for those who are facing employment pressures. *****Please always remember: your human rights, as outlined in the Constitution, are the highest law in the land!!!! These cannot be superseded by any federal or provincial mandates. NO government or business can make any new laws, regulations or mandates that override your constitutional rights! What they are trying to do with these coercive mandates is illegal, pure and simple! Stand firm and do not let them violate your rights!

Vaccine mandates for Canadian Federal government employees

Okay, so if I read that correctly, only a few people working with vulnerable populations will need to have the vaccine to do that specific job. The rest of it reads like we cannot mandate vaccines and are not going to even try. So I wonder where that leaves federal workers that are not military?

“mandatory” the new Canadian fudge word?

I just watched a few of today’s news clips about mandatory vaccines at the CBC.ca website. Looks like “mandatory” is a fudge word for everything except travelling by plane, train or ship. Big banks are now “mandating” vaccines to their employees but when asked “what happens when an employee says no” they say the person will have to either work from home or wear a mask at work and get tested twice a week (or whatever). Trudeau was the only hardline “no exception for travellers except a medical exception” message.

The CBC coverage of the topic is so behind the times, still spouting concepts like “achieving herd immunity” and “protecting others” — zero acknowledgement of the new reality in Israel, Iceland, the UK etc.

I think that the travellers one will also have to include a religious exemption if that is allowed elsewhere. Religion is a highly sensitive topic here. Bad optics to have e.g. visible minorities denied boarding.  My best hope is either to wait it out until they realize the vaccines are not seriously preventing transmission, or to explore the medical exemption route. Or to wait for a better vaccine. But Canada has pre-ordered even more millions of the mRNA ones.
