    “The Take” by Naomi Klein

Hi,

This video is about the argentina crisis which exploded in 2001. More precisely, it’s about abandoned and/or bankrupt workplaces and factories "taken" by their former workers as a co-op. It’s also about the ‘credito’, an alternate currency peoples used during these hard times.

IMO a must see (and a message of "some" hope is left):

Note: Naomi Klein is a well known anti-globalization activist. She also wrote the book "No Logo".

Fujisan,

I’ve been reading about the Argentina crisis lately. Very interesting.  Possibly a mirror of what could be happening globally in the next few years…

My take exactly, too.

I really like the idea of ‘local currencies’ but implementing them in the US can lead to lots of sticky legal issues due to the currency laws enacted along with the Federal Reserve.

Hi,

I confused two videos concerning Local Exchange Trading Systems (LETS). The one about ‘credito’ used in Argentina is in French and also explains the nasty role of IMF & WTO which ruined both Argentina & Turkey. It also shows the ‘Hour’ currency used in the Ithaka community (NY) which is mostly ideological but very interesting nevertheless. There is an english version of this video "Money" by Isaac Isitan, but I could not find it on the web. Anyhow here is the French version.
