Jim Rogers is also long the Euro (on Morph’s logic but way too early) and getting nailed.

Davos, who is Thurston Howell the Third? Obviously I remember the character on Gilligan’s Island, but you seem to be using it as a nickname for a hedge fund manager? I must have missed the memo on that one…

But I’m actually conservative, and apparently moreso than Rogers. I’ll accept some opportunity cost as a tradeoff for risk mitigation. Once I see this thing turn, with sufficient confirmation for me then I’ll jump. The important thing I think is to be acutely aware of the possibility and be prepared to pull the trigger.

Euro at 1.42 here we come! (before it goes to 1.001 LOL!!!)

Davos,

If you follow Hendry at all, you know that this is a most absurd claim. He has been a USD bull since before the rally began. Now if this is a very recent claim, then I can accept that he has switched gears and is bullish on the Euro, since “everybody and their momma” is bearish. I googled for any recent commentary from him and couldn’t come up with anything.

Oh yeah, who is “Thurston”, Soros?
I follow Hendry, and I concur.

No, who is JD?

He is probably referring to James Dines. Dines is a self-serving, egotistical blowhard His newsletter/ portfolio performance is pathetic according to The Hulbert Financial Digest, which tracks such things objectively.
Hendry IS long on the Euro, positioned just like Jim Rogers, basically said the same thing as Rogers. I’m 100% positive I watched this clip – just don’t know where. He did say he’d exit or rethink it.

Basically both of these guys got it wrong – at least initially. Hope it works out for them both.

    Hendry

Got it….on ZeroHedge

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/hugh-hendry-greek-bailout-really-bailout-french-banks

In typical fashion, Hugh dismembers Angela Merkel’s hypocrisy: “When the truth becomes unpalatable, what is the truth. Angela Merkel, when we say she is being generous, there is nothing generous about spending taxpayers’ money in another country, that is not generosity, that is merely trying to salvage a bankrupt set of political ideology. So to blame the messenger when it’s the truth that hurts, I find that inexcusable.” Just as Hugh’s huge bet against the euro has proven to be a terrific success, we are confident that he will be correct about the end of the EMU quite soon as well.

Looks like you got it wrong Dave.

Quite frankly, while interesting when it was first brought up, at this point in time, this discussion seems somewhat akin to trying to call whether red or black will come up playing roulette.

Davos, you’re way off base calling Jim Rogers Thurston Howell III

Go back and do your research! Watch a few old Gilligan’s episodes and you’ll see that Howell had a wife his own age!

USD to 112, Euro to 92

Great post from Nate

His point & figure charting show an USD upside target of 112, and a Euro target of 92!

I don’t know what the hell P&F charting is, but Nate seems to use it frequently. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Another interesting tidbit in this post: The 20 year trendline was just violated, again.
