Re: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the New World Order

Sam, I didn’t say "the gummint done it" and "adjust facts backward". Critical thinking says that when a profferd explanation does not explain the evidence then that explanation cannot be true and must be rejected. It is terrible to think that a few zealots armed with box cutters could defeat the defenses of the most powerful nation on earth. Improbable, really. It is also improbable that standard, simple procedures designed prevent such a plot from succeeding could so utterly fail, not once, but three times in one day. On the other hand it is impossible for planes crashing into the WTC to have caused their complete destruction – and photographic evidence and eyewitness testimony shows that, in fact, this is not what happened. This evidence does show that planes crashed into the towers and subsequently they were destroyed by a series of explosions. In fact, this is exactly what was reported in the media on 9-11-01. I reiterate, when confronted with a truth so monstrous it is easier for most people to believe a lie.

The building owner had possession of two enormous white elephants laced with asbestos that would have been enormously expensive to mitigate. Following their destruction he received a multi-billion dollar insurance payout and the mess was cleaned up at public expense. All health and damage claims were shifted to the public. Two wars were started and legislation was enacted without substantial review that allowed access to financial and telecommunications traffic for the entire nation – in secret, without the possibility of court review. Indefinite detention of citizens in secret, without access to legal recourse was asserted merely by mentioning the suspicion of "terrorism" or threat to the state. Numerous private companies received enormous no-bid contracts to provide secret military and intelligence services.

We will see these changes continue to bear fruit – beyond what has occurred over the past 8 years…

Re: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the New World Order

There was definitely intentional dis-information given out by the Gov’t around the Ok city bombing. A good friend of mine is on a volunteer fire department, but also happens to hold a commercial blasting license and knows all about explosives. Several months after this bombing, the FBI went around the country to "brief" fire departments and bomb squads on domestic bombing terror risks.

The way my friend Noel described it to me, they gave a presentation that said Mr. McVeigh had mixed diesel fuel with lawn fertilizer, then ignited the mix with a blasting cap or similar device. At the end of the presentation:

FBI: So that’s the risk we’re facing. And the scary part is it doesn’t take much sophistication for someone else to do this because overall it’s pretty low-tech. Any questions or comments from you volunteer firemen?

Noel: No offense, but everything you just described is the biggest bunch of nonsense I ever heard. If you guys can’t tell us the truth for security reasons, why bother briefing us at all?

FBI: Excuse me sir? What I just described is exactly what happened. Your government spent a lot of money and thousands of man hours investigating this, and the best experts in the field analyzed all the data.

Noel: Fine, but within the first 15 minutes of talking to anyone who actually knows what they are talking about, you would have learned that if McVeigh really did what you said, there would have been diesel fuel and fertilizer splattered all over the outside of the building, and not much else. The only possible way to achieve that much explosive force from a diesel/fertilizer bomb would be to pre-pressurize the van, by doing something like filling the van with propane, then pre-igniting the propane about 1.3 milliseconds before the main explosive. Given the size of the bomb, multiple detonators for both the pre-ignition and main explosive would be required, and the timing would be extremely critical to make them all work together and achieve full ignition of the explosive. To achieve that, you need purpose-built high-precision detonators and microprocessor-driven timing circuitry. There is no possible way that this happened the way you said it did, and what really happened required a whole lot more technical sophistication and understanding of explosives than you are admitting.

My friend was then escorted out of the briefing and interrogated by FBI, who interpreted his unusual knowledge of demolition as suspicious. Your tax dollars at work.

Erik

Sam, I should add that I am a scientist by trade. A few years ago some colleagues who had published findings related to warming and climate change were hauled in front of a congressional committee and interrogated, their records subpoenaed, and their professional relationships analyzed by a military contractor using analytical software designed to hunt for terrorist cells in an attempt to intimidate them and discredit their work. Its a brave new world beginning… again….

Re: We are all conspiracy theorists now

If you accept the Crash Course #8
(The Fed – Money Creation) you are already conspiracy theorists.
Consider the content of that CC – we have a monetary system that was destined to fail from the start
What are the implications of that?  Does anyone think for a moment that
Chris Martenson was the first or the only one to recognize the terminal
flaw of multiplying debt interest (exponential growth)?

YOU are jumping to conclusions……

The Space Shuttle that blew up on take off all those years ago was also doomed to fail.  Was it launched knowing that?

You also forget Prof Albert Bartlett’s great quote: "Humanity’s greatest shortcoming is its inability to understand the exponential function".

Like Chris, I have three beliefs:

1)  Government bureaucracies are run by MORONS.

2)  Corporations are run by MORONS.

3)  The great majority of the population behave like MORONS.

And you wonder why we’re in this mess?

I totally subscribe to the combination between conspiracy (which is a faithful companion of beaurocracy) and moronism.

Re: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the New World Order
Sam, is your question "why perpetrate such a horror?" If so I thik the answer is very clear – in order to instill fear in the population so they will accept things/actions that they would otherwise oppose. I think you will soon see this played out again as the financial crisis worsens – certain types of threats to social order and fear will be used to advance actions contrary to the public interest. Or did I misunderstand you?
CB,

You have interpreted my question correctly.

The government has had ample opportunity to scare the public with "perceived threats" and they have used them in the past.

I cannot comprehend why a government cabal would slaughter nearly 3,000 people on the ground and in the air just to scare us even more. Following that logic then makes the 19 hijackers part of the conspiracy – not to mention all the other folks that they’ve rounded up since that time.

Are you telling me that this is all a gigantic conspiracy to scare the American public so that TPTB can decimate our constitution? They already have all the money – what else could they possibly want? Power? They already seem to have plenty of that as well.

I’m not defending TPTB – far from it. I’m just having trouble using my logical train of thought to sort out why. Undecided

We are all conspiracy theorists now

SamLinder said:

As you state, we are "critical thinkers" which means we are not
"conspiracy theorists". A critical thinker works with facts as did Dr.
Martenson in the CC. He presented the material in a factual way and
proved his point through pure logic. That’s a big difference from
someone who picks an end point (the gummint done this to us!) then
adjusts the facts backwards to make sure they fit what they are
convinced must have happened.

One mans facts may be another’s conspiracy theory.  You and I may accept Chris Martenson’s CC #8 (multiplying interest debt is a terminal flaw in that it is not sustainable) as a mathematical certainty but that opinion is not shared by many.  For example, most Austrian and Keynesian Economists would say this is not true even though it can be displayed mathematically.  Edward Griffin’s famous book, Creature from Jekyll Island, "debunks" the "myth" of multiplying interest debt on pages 191-192.  While I thoroughly enjoyed Griffins book and think it is loaded with facts, I think he is wrong and Martenson is right on this particular issue.

My point is that we who believe in peak oil and the multiplication of interest debt are considered "conspiracy theorists" by many others, including other "conspiracy theorists."

Everyone is a moron?  That sounds like a weak conspiracy theory to me as I think it is odd to assume that everyone is a moron.  No doubt, the government has more than its share of morons but to dismiss our current economic crisis and the ongoing assault on our liberties as being the result of incompetence – strikes me as a stretch.  Consider for example that the Patriot Act was written before 9/11 and rest assured when the big financial collapse hits, the solution will already be waiting.

Greg,

I must confess, after watching the two videos and other related ones, that a number of questions still exist. I guess I’m inclined to agree with one of the theories. That is where a government agent had infiltrated T. McVeigh’s group and the whole thing spun out of control before they could stop it. There’s enough gung-ho, moronic types in Washington, DC to make that plausible!
