Re: Move Thread to Controversial Topics?
BTW, your use of explanatory bracketed comments or use of "smiley" faces certainly helps show your "tongue in cheek" side and removes any potential sting.
Hi, Sam;

I guess that, since it would never occur to me to be intentionally cruel, I had not considered it necessary to guard against this kind of misinterpretation.  Lest I forget to "keyboard smile", you can rest assured that I never intentionally mean to cause pain.  If my meaning isn’t clear, please feel free to ask for clarification* . . . but please don’t assume ill intent.  I won’t promise that I’ll never ask hard questions, or that I’ll swallow an untruth in an attempt to be "polite", or that I’ll stand by silently while others behave badly, or that I’ll ever betray my faith in a misguided effort not to offend, [or that I’ll never construct a run-on sentence], but intentionally causing psychic pain for its own sake is just not in my repertoire.  When there are general patterns that concern me, I prefer to make general observations, rather than singling out an individual for criticism.  Ridicule and humiliation are rarely productive, anyway.  If an affront is so heinous that I must confront it head on, I will do so directly, and possibly privately, if there is the need to "get personal".  Airing dirty laundry in public is distasteful to me.  This public forum stuff takes some getting used to.  Once in a while I will try to chide someone, in a lighthearted manner, into realizing that their behavior is offensive to me.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do recall one incident on CM where my enthusiasm got away from me, and I ended up apologizing, privately and sincerely to that gentleman.  He was gracious enough to forgive my bad judgment.

I’m glad to have had this conversation.  Hopefully, it will help avoid future misunderstandings.  Take care.

* A little marital anecdote:  When my husband and I had been married for about a year, one day, he startled me with the question, "Are you angry, or are you on a mission?"  I laughed heartily, as, indeed, I was just busy, and focusing intently.  Apparently, the two can look quite similar, though they are subjectively very different.

Re: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the New World Order

Sam, no, everybody who gets in the CFR isn’t aware they’re part of a "dark side."  They just think they’re becoming part of the most powerful/influential group in the country…they think they’re getting access to the best ole boys network in the world.  Rockefeller and the real insiders invite people into CFR because they want their financial interests to be aligned with theirs…gives them influence. Members then have powerful reasons to not rock the boat and turn against the insiders that run CFR.  It becomes group think…so they don’t convert to the dark side on purpose, but they align with dark siders without even knowing it because they think that’s what serves their personal interests.  I doubt my 2 classmates who are in CFR really know what the group is all about.  They’re in it to get lucrative i-banking deals…they’re the most privileged 30-something private equity guys on Wall St because they’re in the club…little do they know what they’ve joined…sort of like Tom Cruise in the Firm.  But it doesn’t even have to be that sinister.  For example, if you join a corporation but then advocate for your company’s primary competitor, then your boss is going to be like "uh dude, we’re pushing you out."  Similarly, if you join CFR but then advocate against global monetary system and promote national sovereignty, they’re not going to keep you in the club unless you’re somehow meeting a need for them.  But again, most people just don’t know what they’ve joined…they only joined to put it on their resume and develop the most lucrative rolodex in the world.

CFR is similar to the CIA in this way (go with me here for a bit…I’m not saying CFR is a black ops intell organization, though actually the top level people have black ops folks working for them just like the mafia has a black ops side under the capo regimes).  Most people in CIA think they’re doing good work for the country.  Similarly, most people in CFR are being honest…they just think they’re in the best club to get power/influence jobs in government or to get rich on Wall St.  But CIA people are compartmentalized into need-to-know top secrecy levels with very little exposure to the strategic perspective that only the few insiders have that have been incessantly vetted by personality testing, psychological profiling, and lie detecting.  Similarly, CFR is compartmentalized…most members have no clue.  It doesn’t do the CIA’s level of testing/profiling…they only need to know how power-hungry or money-hungry their nominees are and then their W2 and network connections ensure they will be loyal.

You gotta understand these people…can’t apply your morality to them.  They don’t think seriously about the stuff you’re thinking about.  You’ve demonstrated that you’re motivated by ideals, morality, causes beyond yourself.  That’s why I love middle america and would rather hangout there myself than join the elite club.  But this isn’t the case with Wall St types and a lot of power-hungry DC types…they are narcissistically motivated…it’s what’s in it for them.  Whether they’re doing good or bad doesn’t even cross their mind.  They may eventually wake up to it and develop a conscience, but it’s usually too late at that point, and then it’s like The Firm…they’ll ensure you have a "heart attack" or a "suicide by hanging" if you happen to be one of the few people who know too much and suddenly find morality.

Well, joe, first I have to be nominated – perhaps strabes will get that rolling.

However, once I’m in with the "dark side", I may not want to come back here and report – after all, I’ll be one of the elite.

At that point, why would I want to talk with you peons anymore?

Ya know the problem with you, strabes? You’re too logical in your thinking. I hate that in other people.

Since I come from logic myself, I feel compelled to pay attention to logical arguments. Bottom line, I think you and I are closer in thought than first appears on the surface. Since I agree that there are some nasty things going on in our government – both previously and even today – I can hardly argue against the idea that there are other things going on beyond my ken.

As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t think any NWO will reach across the world in my lifetime. There’s just too many cultural and religious differences for that to happen. Mind you, after I’m gone, I won’t care!

That said, I think we should move on to other interesting topics scattered across this site. I respect your intelligence and realize that you come from concern for this country. Please know that I’m paying attention to what is going on in D.C. and my head really isn’t buried in the sand.

Peace.

No argument with history, joe.

I live in hope (and die in despair?) that our military will not be so willing to go along with any madmen that make it into power.

German culture embodied following their leaders without question. Americans, on the other hand, are a cantankerous lot not willing to listen to anyone longer than 30 minutes or 1 hour (depending on the length of the TV program).

Anyone trying to control Americans will find themselves trying to herd cats. Good Luck with that!
