    Testing for COVID immunity

As part of some upcoming routing bloodwork, I am considering getting tested for natural immunity to COVID due to previous infection.  I’m not sure whether I’ve had COVID, so if I did, it was mild.  The only time I’ve been really sick in the last two years was what seemed like just the flu in February 2020 (vomiting, fever, chills) which lasted the weekend and then was gone.  I’ve not received any COVID shots of any kind.  Male, about to turn 50, reasonably good health (could lose a few lbs), located in Canada, but diagnosed earlier this year with a (surprise!) heart arrythmia during a hernia repair operation, so just trying to get as much information as I can as I walk through some decisions related to this new diagnosis.

If I were to get tested for natural immunity to COVID due to prior exposure or infection, what should I be ensuring that the lab is testing for, so that I’m not wasting my time or $$$?  Am not a scientist or medical person, so treat me like I’m not terribly knowledgeable in this area and keep your answer fairly simple to the layperson, and I’ll probably understand your answer – lol!  Thanks in advance!

    Testing for COVID immunity

You probably don’t have antibodies if you (potentially) had Covid that long ago, unless you had it asymptomatically more recently. You could try getting the T-Detect test to see if you have T and B cells, which are more important to have anyway, I believe. They have a list of labs that will draw blood for that test on their website. Good luck!

Thanks for the comment!  I’ve updated my OP to include that I’m in Canada (where I’ve discovered we don’t seem to be able to get or acquire the T-Detect test.)
