SWEDEN: What do you do if the ship’s captain is deranged?

Alice in Wonderland would not have understood.

Meanwhile, most countries have adapted their strategies in accordance with constantly updated knowledge. It is the lack of flexibility shown by the Public Health Authority that has led to the death toll in Sweden today exceeding 5,000, and is among the highest in the world in terms of population. And it is our high spread of infection that has caused many countries to close their borders for us. The lack of flexibility is a great mystery, which is why we have written our debate articles.

In an interview on June 18 in Expressen TV Anders Tegnell said: ‘I think we have had a corona strategy that has worked very well in many aspects.’ In his summer programme, he added that ‘the great failure is that so many died’. But then one has to ask: Is there anything that is more important during a pandemic than for people to survive? And how can one think that a strategy would otherwise have worked very well?

    stockholm: herd immunity

It appears from the charts that Stockholm now has herd immunity.

Seems like the goal was reached.  And before winter, too.

It will be interesting to see how Finland fares, with winter approaching, and no herd immunity at all because they locked down early and prevented their super-spreaders from becoming immune.

The Fat Lady has yet to Sing in this opera, but I suspect the Swedes will end up having the last laugh.

I also get the sense that the vaccine-makers are enthusiastically vilifying Sweden in a desperate attempt to keep others from following their lead.

SWEDEN: What do you do if the ship’s captain is deranged?

Hi Nyhetersverig,

I’v got a question that is bugging me. Maybe you can answer it. First of all let me state that I hope that the Swedish “model” is working,  apart from some obvious cordonne sanitair related issues.

The question that I have is this: in how far is the data reliable? I understand that there are actually some internal and external tensions related to the Swedish model. Sweden has a reputation of not reporting certain items He in order to be politically correct. Is the data presented real, or does it fit a specific political goal? I hope the first.

Thanks in advance!

Why would you hope that their system is working? It’s an utter homicidal failure.

    what herd immunity looks like

Data says otherwise.  Data shows that deaths topped out back in mid-April.  They have fallen steadily ever since.

And now cases have quite possibly topped out too.

Sure looks to me like Sweden was right.  They sure seem to have that “impossible to get” herd immunity right now.

That’s how I read the data.  That current CFR of 2.3% looks pretty good to me.

Hi Nyhetersverig,

The reason why I hope it is working is answered by Davefairtex. I agree that the cordonne around the old and weak was lacking.

Although I’m still somewhat scepticle about the data, Sweden is US squared in terms of PC, this could truly be a silver lining: herd immunity seems possible. With an early intervention protocol, HCQ, zinc etc, it implies that “it can be beaten”.

Grts, dave
