Sweden: ‘It’s been so, so surreal’
‘If Norway ever catches up to Sweden in the proportion of people killed by COVID-19, I’ll eat my hat.’
One tangible reason for this bizarre behaviour can be related to the fact that their FHM and Tegnell are today a political agency, not an independent scientific agency as before. Tegnell’s behaviour seems to have to follow the political line of his boss Lena Hallengren who is from the inner circle of her party.
For example, when Spotify told their employees to work from home, Tegnell objected, saying it wasn’t fair, because many people could not work from home, and so everyone should expose themselves at the same level of risk presumably.
But Tegnell will also have known, through Hallengren, that her social department had no way of being prepared for the pandemic. Thus the lack of recommendations and restrictions, as they couldn’t have done anything about it anyway, and pointing out the actual situation would only have put the focus on Hallengren, and on how she was directly contravening legislation on treatment of infectious diseases.
This in turn led to the nightmarish recommendations sent to nursing homes who, because of further clumsy legislation, had no way to treat elderly who’d become infected. Talk about a perfect storm. Relatives to the elderly are not told of the risks, Hallengren’s workers in healthcare have no PPE to speak of, and now Hallengren’s office issued a list of recommendations to nursing homes, basically advising euthanasia.
Thanks for the interesting article. Collectively, Swedes are some of the most brainwashed people on the planet. It’s sad, because as individuals they have a tradition of being honest, trustworthy, reliable and many other fine traits.
