    Supplement Support Against Coronavirus

The physicians of the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service and the International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine urge a nutrient-based method to prevent or minimize symptoms for future viral infection. The following inexpensive supplemental levels are recommended for adults; for children reduce these in proportion to body weight:

Vitamin C: 3,000 milligrams (or more) daily, in divided doses.
Vitamin D3: 2,000 International Units daily. (Start with 5,000 IU/day for two weeks, then reduce to 2,000)
Magnesium: 400 mg daily (in citrate, malate, chelate, or chloride form)
Zinc: 20 mg daily
Selenium: 100 mcg (micrograms) daily

Yes but what about herbs? and amino acids

This is the basic list of what most are familiar with.   However, regarding your minerals – Calcium is actually more important in the functioning of the immune system than both vitamin d ( which is has a close relationship with calcium ) and zinc.

then there are ton of herbs that have shown to have some antiviral properties.   And maybe more important a ton of adaptogenic herbs that combat stress ( which has negative effects on the immune system )   And finally we have aminos,   Lysine , has some antiviral properties as well as adaptogenic properties..  There may be some others.. I d have to give it some thought.

    Preventing cytokine storm/ inflammation

I’ve been doing research on cytokine Storm prevention that has possibly been leading to ARDS and the overall hyper stimulation and inflammation that some patients seem to be experiencing. I’m still researching this but came across b6 as a possible option. I think anything we can do for ourselves, the better. Thanks for sharing!

    Monolaurin

I’m no expert, but Monolaurin looks intriguing.

I’ve read it damages the virus’s “protective envelope”… I’m ordering some to be on the safe side.

Lots of info on it around the place and some very interesting reviews on Amazon and iHerb.

Selenium was used to successfully treat Ebola Zaire by Chinese Dr. Hou in ’93.  He supplemented with 2mg/day orally.  It is thought the virus makes a selenoprotein to use up available selenium.  Furin is used by the virus to peel off it’s protein coat to allow attachment at the ACE2 receptors. Furin, a protease, is inhibited by selenium and Se helps against cytokine storm.

Ebola and Coronaviruses attach via furin.

    Supplement Support Against Coronavirus

Hey everyone,

One of the best functional nutrition and herbal providers, Dr. Annette Schippel posted this video about herbs to support the immune system, as well as to recover function post viral load. It’s quite in depth scientifically and with herbal function as it’s meant for natural health providers.

My wife and I have been fortunate to train with her multiple times and she is a treasure trove of natural health information.

Coconut oil is high in Lauric acid, a precursor to monolaurin. If you use that in cooking or baking and have it in your house. That can be an easy to obtain and add to your at home prevention strategy.  I personally take 1 tsp/ day.

    Multivitamin, NAC and Elderberry

Vitamin C: 3,000 milligrams (or more) daily, in divided doses.
Vitamin D3: 2,000 International Units daily. (Start with 5,000 IU/day for two weeks, then reduce to 2,000)
Magnesium: 400 mg daily (in citrate, malate, chelate, or chloride form)
Zinc: 20 mg daily
Selenium: 100 mcg (micrograms) daily

That’s about what we were discussing 6 weeks ago as a good list, though you don’t have one of the most critical, that is a good multivitamin. Most people are deficient in a few essentials which a multivitamin fills in. Especially helpful now that we’re going to be eating quarantine style.

Many of us added NAC as a anti oxidant and elderberry as a prophylactic to fight infection.
