Solar energy storage – new battery tech!
“A very interesting feature of this battery is that only two elements are used for the anode and the cathode – aluminum and carbon – both of which are inexpensive and environmentally friendly,” Zheng said. “They also have a very long cycle life. When we calculate the cost of energy storage, we need to amortize it over the overall energy throughput, meaning that the battery is rechargeable, so we can use it many, many times. So if we have a longer service life, then this cost will be further reduced.”

Carbon is great stuff.
Though obviously if you burn too much of it in the presence of Oxygen, it can be a problem (CO2).
There’s an episode of Breaking Bad where he MacGyvers a battery using Zinc and an alkaline liquid. Not sure if that was realistic.
One alternative to energy storage is to move energy intensive manufacturing near the energy source, and then do the manufacturing when there is spare capacity. Metal casting for example.
I’m waiting out the Goodenough-Braga glass battery. It’s now being commercially developed by Hydro Quebec.

The glass battery is due out in ~ a year. Hydro Quebec is no joke. IEEE is no joke, either. But please yourself about it. They don’t need to interest you in it. It won’t be available to you. It is commercial.
Maximize daytime stationary energy consumption. ie Heat and cool with PC direct power. The SOL-ARK inverter has a diversion output that is pure PV Power. 1 Hot-water tank = several Power walls.
