    Silly coinage from dealers?

I want to purchase some small (1oz, 5oz) silver. Silver has been out of stock at most of the exchanges, even at the exorbitant rates they want.

APMEX now has some in stock but the best prices are for some crazy “John Wayne” coins struck in Tuvalu.

My personal thesis for having small silver on hand is that silver is most likely to be able to be used for barter/exchange locally in a SHTF scenario. I’m not looking to store wealth, just to put a little cash equivalent aside for the proverbial rainy day.

I used to have some 1oz and 5oz APMEX bars but they seem to have gone missing before my last relocation; I suspect our old housekeeper but I don’t want to go too deep there. I felt that they were generic and respectable enough that I felt that they could get decent value.

However, if I show up with a John Wayne 1oz round, looking to trade for some gasoline or something, people might think it’s just a big joke.

Thoughts?

Maybe just get a few for now and keep you eyes open for any opportunities to get 2014 onward Maple Leafs which are to my knowledge the safest silver bullion coin out there.

Try Provident Metals, better prices than APMEX.  Have you considered junk silver for trading purposes?
