One additional aspect caught my attention. If I recall, there are some concerns regarding mask-wearing inducing a mild hypoxia. Since the virus seems to heavily deplete magnesium (needed for oxygen-sensing) and zinc, what could be the ramifications of a mild hypoxia?

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34040692/

If the cats are generally low-taurine to begin with, additional depletion of Mg and Zn would really affect them.

Edited to note: everything I looked at pointed to excess zinc inducing a copper deficiency as being behind pancytopenia. I do not know at this point if this is a causal factor in cats, however.

On a side note, I am pretty sure my cats caught Covid from us. They got conjunctivitis shortly after we had it. We have not gotten the jab.

Just to circle this back to the spike protein, I think the  shedding that is killing pets.  They have studied and documented that just spike protein is toxic. https://michaelsavage.com/bad-news-covid-spike-protein-itself-damages-cells-salk-institute/

Now how it is killing them, its probably by design. That’s my opinion not fact.

My experience is that there is something with the shedding, as I’m one if the lucky few that seems to be sensitive to this thing, at work I now have to wear an n95 mask, luckily its one day in the office. If I don’t I start to get a wicked soar throat, I get this ache in my lungs. By the end of the day with out the mask, the next day I feel like crap. I have a number of supplements that gets me through the next few days, but it don’t feel my best.  Oh and yes I follow the imask protocol with IvM taken the day before and after my day in the office taken at the exposure level, not sure if it helps. Not vaxxed.

Just my experience and not surprising about pets passing away. They are most needed now during these crazy times.
