On your fifth bullet:  Aside from being a stellar idea, I am interested in your organic co-op DVD distribution effort.  This sounds like a great project.  Would you be interested in posting some more details about it in the new Promote the Crash Course section?  Another good place for it would be in the DVD Project & Sales Reporting section of the MB forums.  It’s just one of those little things that is an inspiration for others.  Sometimes people pass up the small, achievable ideas like that in pursuit of grandiose, untouchable concepts.  If you don’t have the time, no biggie.

I’ll definitely whip up those two threads tonight, and sent out an message to facebook group members based on that rough outline.

Glad to be on board, Luc.

    Re: Project: Facebook

Facebook messege sent out several minute ago reads as follows:

"Thank you everyone for joining the official PeakProsperity.com Facebook group in support of the Crash Course.

Hopefully
you are all familiar with the site and frequently stop by. A few things
we’d like to make sure everyone in the community is aware of:

Registration on the website. If you’re in the Facebook group, chances
are you’re registered on PeakProsperity.com. If not, registration is
very important, in that it helps us track growth and estimate the
actual size of the [online] community that is being developed.
Registration is free and simple – the link is at the very top center of
the home page.
• The Public Forums can be viewed even without
registering; however, free registration is required to post comments.
There is already a thriving community, discussing countless issues
related to the 3 Es. We encourage everyone to stop by and join the
dialogue.
• DVDs of the Crash Course (NTSC) can now be purchased for shipment at http://www.cdfx-crashcourse.com/.

There are also torrents for the Crash Course, both NTSC and PAL
versions (depending on your country), which can be downloaded to burn
your own DVDs, or just to have the Crash Course on your computer. The
burn-it-yourself page can be found under the Community heading of the
top menu.
• The Volunteer Brigade has been established, for
folks who want to get more involved in spreading the message. The
current page about the brigade can be found also under the Community
heading, but it will be updated soon. There is room for people with any
skill set in the brigade – feel free to post on the forums, message any
of us on Facebook, or e-mail [email protected]

om
for more information. The Brigade is how I got involved, and we are
always looking for more people to join. Right now, our work includes
uploading the Crash Course to YouTube, and coordinating our presence on
social networking sites. As an example, we are currently looking for
[an] experienced volunteer(s) to write Wikipedia pages on Chris and the
Crash Course. There’s much to be done, and we’d appreciate your
commitment, if you have the time. Thanks!
• Whether you’re
interested or not in distributing DVDs to your family, friends, and
community, or joining the Volunteer Brigade, one easy thing that each
of us can do is spread the word on Facebook! Simply invite as many
friends as possible on Facebook to grow the group and spread the
message. We’ve gotten a sizeable number of people, with as many pending
invites as members, but there is huge potential for growth. This is a
simple, quick, and easy way to contribute.
• For those who are going
to be passing out DVDs (presumably many, since over 16,000 have been
ordered so far), we would encourage you to add a personal note with the
DVD. You can inform the recipient(s) of the Facebook group, the
website, or even provide contact information (if you’re moving past
your network of friends) to organize local “Crash Course” groups to
discuss the course, and determine how you can take action in your
community. For example, one Volunteer Brigade member has shared it with
community officials, who are discussing a presentation before their
city council. Several members on the public forums have donated DVDs to
local libraries, and have even held public showings, forming community
organizations based around the Crash Course. Personally, I’m part of an
organic food co-op; along with about thirty other families, we get
organic vegetables delivered weekly. I’ve contacted the people who run
it, and when it begins again in the spring everyone will be receiving a
complimentary Crash Course DVD along with their first shipment. There
are many simple ways to spread the word and to be an agent of change in
your community. In the end, all the foresight in the world is worthless
if we don’t do anything about it.

Again, thank you for your
support so far by joining the group. We would like to encourage all of
you to become active members of the community in whatever way you’re
comfortable. Spread the word in any way you can, that we may work
towards a better future.

Have a safe Holiday Season!

Feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or suggestions."

When I typed it up in MS Word, I had in-text hyperlinks to each page referenced…however, I had forgotten that those wouldn’t carry over into the message, so it’s a bit more sloppy. Oh well, hopefully it helps out. As it now stands, we have 138 members, with 89 invitees who haven’t replied.

Christopher,

This is phenomenal.  You captured everything that is going on with the site in a beautifully-written, organized, and heartfelt manner.  I know I am starting to sound like a broken record but you are a tremendous asset to this group.  Though we are just barely getting started, I am humbled to be part of such a committed, passionate team of volunteers who truly are the change they wish to see in this world.

Great work and thank you for the energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration you bring to this team.

Quite Sincerely,

Lucas Altic

I agree with Lucas – you are doing a great job Christopher.  Sorry I haven’t been much help recently (December is a rather busy month for a musician).

I sent a message to Chris when he joined the group saying that it might be nice for him eventually to send a message to the facebook members to encourage them to invite their friends to join.  We could well be at 200 members by the new year so that might be a good time.  Not sure if Chris would be willing to do that or not, but it might get a few more people to act if it is asked for by the man himself.

Week after Christmas is much quieter for me, so will plan to be a bit more active then.

 Cheers,

Kevin
