One thing that I am Thankful For

There is so much to be thankful for, even though the headlines are disturbing and the world is clearly falling apart. I personally choose to be optimistic and positive while acknowledging and trying to deal with the external issues.

So I thought it might be uplifting and inspiring to mention one particular thing that I am thankful for, knowing that it would be just one out of many.

In the last weeks I have been especially thankful for animal friends. Specifically for a cow and calf pair that we rescued.

Ginger is a Jersey momma of undetermined age (vet thinks 3 or 4) and Grace is a 3 week old heifer separated at one day old off a dairy cow. Jerseys are naturally bony, but this pair looked emaciated when we got them.  The momma was dried up and the baby skinny as a rail …going from one teat to another and not getting any milk. We immediately drove to the feed store and got milk replacer.

After 3 weeks the cows are thriving….The baby “Grace”….gives kisses and has started romping around in the paddock. (There was no playfulness for the first 2 weeks). The momma “Ginger” greets us at the gate with a soft moo when we come to give her grain twice a day.

Although our “milk cow” has no milk ….we are thankful to be able to give them a home and hope to nurture them to optimal health and get into milk production soon.

I am grateful for a bit of normalcy this year, my half sisters and their kids are here for the thankful day. They are unwaxxed and have had covid already, really feels pretty good.

It will be a mostly vegan dinner, one sister will share a home grown bird with me. This year feels like inclusion and acceptance for one another, so far it has been relaxed and enjoyable. The desert rat kids will awaken to snow this morning, might just be a snowball or two. I feel grateful.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I am so thankful for so many things..But my family and friends, pets and home bring the most joy..I get up in the morning go outside even if it is cold and just listen, smell the air and thank the creator for this land and trees, the sun all of it..The fact that I can see it’s worth makes me really happy..so many can not see pleasure in simple things..I hope everyone has a beautiful day..

One thing that I am Thankful For–Humor

Thanksgiving dinner procedure for insane times:

Inspired by this video

  • serve hors d’oeuvres in the garage
  • ask guests to take a rapid test to come inside
  • immediately admit any guest who laughs at you
  • rig all tests to read positive so that anyone who submits to testing goes home and thinks that it’s their own fault
  • be thankful for a delicious meal with only your sane friends.

the best part is that EVERYONE learns a valuable lesson.

I’m thankful for my warm, wood heated home on this cold, wet Thanksgiving morning, my loving husband, my family and friends and our little piece of this earth to steward and care for. Thankful to the Creator for this life and for growing discernment. I am also grateful to Chris and for this community who have helped us to be aware, discerning, and as prepared as possible through these very strange times! Thank you!

I am very thankful for this site!!!

Looking back, this place has taught me so much, shown me clues in my intellectual endeavors I might never have discovered otherwise, allowed me to vent my fears, frustrations and ideas…like no other place…and obtain a “feedback” quality unlike any other blog.

Chris is a God among us…and many here are his “Angels”…

Grateful for friends and family and ohana today and all days.  The PP tribe is an essential element of my fortunate life.  May Fortune smile upon us all…

I actually just logged in to perhaps start a new topic- Giving Thanks. Thanks oliveoilguy for already being on it!

I am grateful for the warm flames in the woodstove, for my dear companion to share a home with, for the peace that recides in the countryside, the phone call from my sister, the Indian summer we have had in New England, good neighbors, the hand written card that arrived yesterday from a dear old friend…….and for the PP community- its sane open mindedness and civility, its skilled site management, and its incredible members and leadership! Gratitudes toward all
