    Obtaining Ivermectin

I can’t believe a pharmacist can just ignore a scrip based on his beliefs.

If it’s all up to the pharmacist, why even see a doctor to get the scrip in the first place ? It’s yet another sign of a completely broken system.

I know, this seemed somewhat shocking to me as well. I’ve done a bit of searching and found out that individual pharmacists are allowed to refuse to fill prescriptions for “moral beliefs.” For instance, a pharmacist can refuse to fill birth control (goes against religious beliefs), or hormones for transgenders, or controlled substances. I suppose they can extend that to something like ivermectin as well.

However, it sounds like the big pharmacies, like Walgreens and CVS, may have a policy in place whereby an individual pharmacist can refuse, but they have to find another pharmacist in the company (or maybe at another pharmacy) who will fill it. Here is an article from 2018 about this: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/can-pharmacist-legally-deny-patient-prescription-it-depends-n894871

And from a 2018 “tweet” from Walgreens:

Our policy allows pharmacists to step away from filling a prescription for which they have a moral objection. At the same time, they are also required to refer the prescription to another pharmacist or manager on duty to meet the patient’s needs in a timely manner.

I don’t know if there are any laws specific to ivermectin for covid, though apparently many states imposed restrictions of prescriptions of HCQ for covid last year.
