Sam, my book with the Constitution in it has the "critical comma" you mention but I believe since it’s a temporary provision you read it without the italicized part. It has this in parenthesis, (Parts of the Constitution no longer in effect are printed in italics).

From my book,

"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution,12 shall be eligible to the Office of President;"

12. This was a temporary provision"

Should be read like this,

 No person except a natural born Citizen, shall be eligible to the Office of President;

I’m not an expert but I think I’m right about this,

Aaron –
Nice to see you post! I was wondering what happened to you.
Thanks, I’m so busy working, stashing supplies, cutting firewood and supporting the local HS baseball team, I don’t have much time to post.  But, I’m still lurking.
There are plenty of reasons to suspect foul-play in the Obama circle already, and I don’t think the country of his birth should raise questions as much as his education in Jakarta (known for the Wahabbist teachings of Islam) or his actual executive record, ie, his lack of experience.
I have grown so accustomed to the right wing attack machine spewing BS that I can almost always ID it when it pops up on the web.  It comes with that Limbaugh feel of slime on it.  It worked so well for them against Clinton that they continue to ride it like a one trick pony.  Unfortunately for them (not the country) it’s all they have left.  They’ve been morally bankrupt for a long time, and now they are intellectually and ideologically bankrupt as well.

Bottom line, Obama has been in office for a month.  He’s done more in that limited time than any President since possibly FDR.  Not everything he does will be the right thing, but I suspect he is able to think on his feet and adapt to changing conditions.  I have absolutely no reason to think he is a secret Jihadist or has designs against Democracy or capitalism or Christians or any other ism or group.  He’s as American as they come.

Just as we have to be nimble in managing our money in these chaotic times, he will have to be quick on his feet to handle the various crises heading his way.  Perhaps no President since Lincoln has entered office with so many challenges facing him.  I would hope that everyone will give him the benefit of the doubt for a while and cease the endless mindless attacks.  He deserves at least that.

I think you are too! Wink

Sorry, can’t help myself.

Phil Berg is a Democrat, would that be considered "right wing"?
If not right wing, at least a nut job.  When I started watching that video I thought it was a farce, but there weren’t many laugh lines.

My advice is – get over it.  He’s POTUS during this very critical period in our history.  Trying to throw him out now will only make matters worse.  We need a leader who the world recognizes has the support of the people of the US.  Whether or not he is "natural born" or has somehow surrendered his citizenship is a matter for historians to debate.  We don’t have the time or luxury to worry about it now.

"Nut job", good argument Doug, I believe that is called an Ad Homium attack, usually used by those with no real argument.

I find it difficult to believe that you would support someone who would knowingly violate the Constitution, this means to him it’s just "a GD piece of paper" like someone else we know called it and he will treat any other part of it the same way. Like  I said, I don’t know if this is true, and I hope it’s not, I will wait and see.

That’s the difference between us.  I don’t for a second believe he’s violated the Constitution.  I mentioned before that I’ve developed a BS detector for the right wing attack machine, and it is going off with sirens blaring and red lights flashing with this nonsense.  OBTW, where were you when the previous administration was trying to gut the Constitution?

Doug, let’s agree to disagree, I read your posts and consider what you are saying, even your AGW/ACC posts. 😉

Lyrics to Handlebars :
I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Look at me, look at me
hands in the air like it’s good to be
ALIVE
and I’m a famous rapper
even when the paths’re all crookedy
I can show you how to do-si-do
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And I can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to "De Colores"
And "I’m Proud to be an American"
Me and my friend saw a platypus
Me and my friend made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want cuz, look:

I can keep rhythm with no metronome
No metronome
No metronome

I can see your face on the telephone
On the telephone
On the telephone

Look at me
Look at me
Just called to say that it’s good to be
ALIVE
In such a small world
All curled up with a book to read
I can make money open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine sixty four
Miles to a gallon of gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic conditions
I know how to run a business
And I can make you wanna buy a product
Movers shakers and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance
I can lead a nation with a microphone
With a microphone
With a microphone
I can split the atoms of a molecule
Of a molecule
Of a molecule

Look at me
Look at me
Driving and I won’t stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let’em all die in exasperation
Have’em all healed of their lacerations
Have’em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don’t like’em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command
I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
and I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope
and I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handle bars
No handlebars

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

"Rise" – Lyrics

So much pain we
Dont know how to be but angry
Feel infected like weve got gangrene
Please dont let anybody try to change me
Me
Just me
In the middle of a sea full of faces
Full of faces
Some laugh some salivate
Whats in your alleyway
Recycling bins or bullet cases
Its not equal
Its not fair
Were different people
But were not scared
We aint never scared
To pave a new path
Make a new street
Build a new bridge
Say can you see by the dawns early light
Free slaves running
Songs words werent right
Now a new days coming
The few stay stunning while the many are handsome
Your soul is alive but they want it for ransom
The base drumming is the anthem
We step to the heartbeats of our granddaughters and grandsons
And

Rise together we

Lost hope and found need
Grounded by our surroundings
Did the walls scream universities
Or you and i verse the tees
React automatic and we burst when squeezed
And make 9-11 each emergency
Urgency amber to red like the turning leaves
Oh please let the hurting cease
Don’t let apathy police the populace
We will march across
Those stereotypes that were marked for us
The answers obvious
We switch the consonants
Change the sword to words and lift continents

If you believe in redemption
I’m calling to you from another dimension

Soldier questions eligibility, doubts president’s authority

"Obama "has absolutely refused to provide to the American public his original birth certificate, as well as other documents which may prove or disprove his eligibility," Easterling wrote. "In fact, he has fought every attempt made by concerned citizens in their effort to force him to do so."

The United States Navy and the U.S. Department of Defense have decided that their Northwest Training Range Complex, in the State of Washington, should be expanded, and have devised a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), dated December 2008, for public review and comment. The expansion of their area of operation will include all of the State of Washington, all of the State of Oregon, part of the state of Idaho, and Northern California. This area will also include large areas of the Pacific Ocean from California to Washington.
