    Modern Monetary Theory (MMT)

I have spent some time recently on the Pragmatic Capitalism web site, and I am fascinated by what I have learned there regarding Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) and its implications for Federal deficits, debt, and taxation. If you’re worried about the possibility of U.S. dollar hyperinflation, I recommend reading the articles there as a reality check. Here’s a good one to start with: http://pragcap.com/hyperinflation-its-more-than-just-a-monetary-phenomenon. The reader comments are generally excellent – this site attracts a smart, thoughtful audience.

If you find it intriguing, I recommend http://pragcap.com/resources/understanding-modern-monetary-system as an excellent introduction to MMT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartalism is another good resource.

If you prefer sitting back and listening, here is another link for a good debate about MMT on a great network.
