A few days ago, I started a "Chris Martenson" group on LinkeIn. I did this in order to avoid someone from creating the group and abuse it.
I am ready to hand over the management of the group to anyone ; or to animate it myself. Lucas, tell me what you prefer !
Also, I have added a few interesting reading related to the crash course. What is the strategy in these groups ? Being an active member in LinkedIn, and from experience, I know it is good not to flood people with information on this network, it is counter productive. A few selected articles are all we need I think. And maybe a reference to "essential readings" (like Chris did on the website).
How do we advertise these groups ?
I thought I had answered this before, but I must not have hit the "post" button. In any case, go ahead and post the link to your LinkedIn page. I’ll go review it and give comments. Others are welcome to do the same.
Social networking sites are primarily "advertised" by peer-to-peer networking. Word of mouth, in other words. What we can do is, once we officially endorse any social networking site, we can post a blog link and a message board post on the main forums so everyone can go and add you as a friend or contact. This will increase popularity and attract more to visit.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you on this. I checked out the profile and joined.
A few comments:
1. Change the PeakProsperity.com Logo to Chris’ picture from the main site. I think that would convey a more personal tone to the profile.
2. I think that, instead of making the LinkedIn profile a promo/landing page for PeakProsperity.com, we should change the angle slightly. Tell me what you think: Since LinkedIn is a career/employment-oriented social networking site, set up the profile as if Chris is an employer looking for help in promoting the message of the Crash Course. It would essentially be a recruiting page for the Martenson Brigade. You could tell all about the Crash Course, it’s key message, and the growing PeakProsperity.com. Then mention how volunteers are pitching in to spread the word about this grassroots effort. Provide a link to the Martenson Brigade landing page ("Community" tab) as well as a link to the Crash Course (both CM.com and YouTube). Of course, you wouldn’t outright ask for volunteers (we want people to make that decision themselves based on how they value the information in the CC). The profile would essentially be in Chris’ voice telling about his business (CM.com, seminars), and directing interested people back to the site.
Let me know what you think. If you are willing, I’d like to appoint you as the LinkedIn go-to guy who is in charge of developing the LinkedIn presence.

Lucas, I will try to structure the content of the group around what you have discussed here. However, please let me know if there is any additional information that you would like to be presented. I will be adding additional content this weekend but wanted to give the brigade an early heads up that things are once again in motion after the old group was removed.
