Large Bank Boycott – Rightous revolution

This is the thread for idea and support for the boycott large banks challenge that Adam T. talked about in his post on Rightous revolution here https://www.peakprosperity.com/ideas-for-righteous-revolution/  Anyone else up for the challenge ?  Could we start by July 1st ?  This is a copy of what I wrote on the thread from that post :

Actions items, can we add or refine this :

– If you have an account in a major bank, move it to a local credit union before July 1st.  While this could be inconvenient, you can always move it back in 6 months if it bothers you that much

– Charge cards :  Boycott/dont use for ( how long ?  1-2 months to start ? Support each other on how to do this)  I also use mine for convenience, and AMTRAK mileage charge card is Bank of America, so I will stop using it.  Will this be inconvenient ? Sure, but absolutely doable.

Online ordering will be the issue for all in this one.  Ideas for how to get around it as much as possible ?  Some of my ideas, but we need more :  (1) Also boycott new purchases for the 2 months.  Most things we buy can be put off, new sheets, new shoes, etc….  (2) if you must buy from Amazon, preload money to your account there ? I think that can be done $100 at a time  ( 3) This is niche, but I order food monthly thru Azure standard and as a long time customer, I can just send them a check “net 10days” instead of paying ahead with a card online, yes, less convenient, but very doable.

ATM cards are run thru the charge card companies, go to cash for the 2 months for grocery store/gas/hardware store purchases ?

– New loans : boycott new financing ( unless absolutelly needed ) for the 2 months.  SO, do not buy the car with standard financing ( credit union ok) or put off the purchase for a while if you can.  Cant do anything if you are changing homes, that needs to be an exception for most

Can people here who are going to do this chime in on the new thread ?

Another potential idea to consider is the use of Paypal for online purchases.  Paypal allows you to link bank accounts and credit cards to your account, and you could check as to whether smaller local credit unions and banks can be linked, if you wish to avoid the large banks and credit cards.  You can set up your Paypal account so that your bank/credit union is debited automatically for online purchases, or you can transfer money from the bank/credit union to your Paypal account, in which case that balance is used.  Paypal is owned by eBay and seems very safe (so far).  The other advantage is that vendors do not get access to your bank or credit card information, and there are fewer occasions where your bank / credit card information is being transmitted over the internet.

Yes, I forgot about that.  I am already part of a credit union, and yes, it is connected to paypal.  So, Paypal can be a way for online purchases.

Are you in on the challenge/boycott ?

    Max Keiser’s solution

A while back Max Keiser was pushing for  “Crash JP Morgan, Buy Silver”  Is that another possibility?

Go read the link in my OP to what Adam Tagart wrote, ideas for rightous revolution.  This thread is just to focus on one part of it, boycotting the large banks for day to day banking.  ANd, right now, in most cases, we cant buy needed items by bartering with silver

Would you join in on taking this kind of business away from the large banks ?

Did this years ago. Local bank and USAA. Discover is my go to credit card.

Never use a debit card except to extract cash. You can also get cash at zero cost through Discover.

mntnhousepermi – in answer to your question – I don’t live in the U.S.  I’m living in Europe, but yes, we use a small local Savings bank rather than one of the large banks.  Good luck with your endeavour!

Willing to give it a try. I am also willing to give the buy silver challenge a try too.
