    Re: Introductions

Hello,  I’m Scott Kohl from Madison, Wisconsin.  I discovered the Crash Course early last summer on an aggregater site called PopUrls.   I watched every video Chris had posted & looked him up on Facebook in order to introduce myself.   I particularly enjoy the forums and the course because of the sobering but positive message.  Too often certain websites or forums are nothing more than "buy gold, stockpile food, and guns!"    No doubt we are in a very tough situation, but I don’t want to give up to some Mad Max scenario just yet, so that’s why I joined the CM Brigade.  Fight the Future!

I have a BS degree in Economics and an MBA in General Management.  Historically my background is in Information Technology, but for that past 6 years I’ve been doing project management and became a certified project manager through the PMI Institute.

Currently I work for Raven Software which is a subsidiary of Activision/Blizzard. I’m a Producer leading a 66 person team and we make computer games for Xbox, Playstation and the PC.  It’s a wonderful place to work and Madison is a fantastic place to live – except as of today December 23rd, 2008 we are on our 6th heavy snowfall….

Outside of work I belong to numerous networking organizations for younger professionals. I’m using those to promote the Crash Course. I’m also going to post to the Promote the Crash Course section and detail my efforts thus far.  My goal is to get Chris on several Air America Radio programs.

If anybody is near the Madison WI area, feel free to contact me at [email protected]  You can also look me up on Facebook.  I often re-post CrashCourse links there.

I chose Greypilgrim as my forum name because I’m a Lord of the Rings fan.  Greypilgrim was a pejorative name for Gandalf the Grey because he often brought tough news to bare.  However, Gandalf also brought wisdom and counseled people to solve their own problems rather than by intervention from magic, gods or other outside forces.

Best and good luck in your efforts!

Scott

Hi,

I’m a new Brigade Member.  My name is David Lachman.  I live in western Massachusetts, just around the corner from where Chris is holding the next weekend seminar, so I signed up for that and look forward to getting more involved in this material in February.  I am an artist (painting and video mostly) and manage the studio of a very successful landscape painter.

I am trying to figure out how to create a community where I am that can best weather the storm that has barely begun, but that that crash course points to as inevitable.  I try to remain positive about the changes that are coming.  I think in the long term they are not only necessary but have the potential to lead to a life style that is more satisfying than mindless consumerism (which seems to be what our society promotes) and human and environmental degredation that grows out of it.

I hope that Chris’s work and the community forming around it will help make the transition to the future a little easier for the world.  I’m glad to be part of that in whatever way I can and look forward to the ideas people share here on how to be effective messengers and agents of change.

Thanks,

My name is Pete. Haven’t returned the Word form yet as I just moved this past week.

Electrical engineer. Willing to help out in any capacity relating to technical issues. Past super-administrator on a football website.

I’ll finish the form this week, LOL. Just got my rig up and I am off the company laptop.

Anyways. I was born in Buffalo, NY but have lived in Florida for 19 years now. Presently reside in Ft. Lauderdale. My GF found the crash course, I watched it and was wow’ed.

Thanks Chris. I have been doing research on my own for years now trying to piece together the incongruency of both national and geopolitics and your course really glued a lot of the pieces together for me. The mainstream media’s message just didn’t add up. Now I know why.

I am also a Digital Six Sigma Statistical Black Belt so if you need any data analysis performed then please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hello,

My name is Michael Mertens. I live in Duesseldorf, Germany. I heard about PeakProsperity.com in a forumdiscussion about the economic crisis on a german website .

PeakProsperity.com is very interesting to me and since i am not from the field of economics, I do appreciate the fact that i`ve learned a great deal about these things here.

I work as a composer/producer for TV- Music, music for Advertising and Film in Germany.

Contrary to the belief that, beeing brought up in " old europe" equals an anti-american posture, i can assure you, nothing could be further from the truth!

Apart from the fact that i always admired american culture , esp. popular culture, to me  america always represented freedom of choice.

I offer my services and expertise in audioproduction to the brigade .

Happy to be a member.

Michael

Hello my name is Diana and I live in Phoenix, AZ.

I work as a freelance field production sound mixer for video and film.

I discovered this web site back in October when I was looking for places to buy gold on line.  Since then I have been working on educating my self, my family and friends.  It is slow going.  People are very reluctant to watch the dvd or check out the web sight.  I am looking for fellow Arizonians to help spread the word.

Hope is still in the air.

Diana

Hi Everyone,

My name is Kate and I am an organic vegetable farmer in west central Wisconsin. I have a community supported farm with 142 members. (www.northcreekcommunityfarm.com) I ran into the CC while in Philedelphia and was hooked. Scared, but hooked. I have spread the word of this amazing course to everyone I run into and included it in my Winter letter to family and friends.

Several of us have begun a community movement called Transition Town. (you can google this) This movement, started by Rob Hopkins, brings a whole community together to eventually write and impliment an Engergy Reduction Plan. As a farmer, I am a practical "do-er". I feel that we can discuss who’s at fault, whether loaning to this or that person is moral but the main message for me in the CC is we are in trouble and things could and will change quickly. As a farmer, I feel more prepared than some but want to help my whole community. I am asking what can do to reduce my energy use by 90%. I am moving in that direction. Rob Hopkins says, "it is possible that we could be happier with less energy."

I have promoted Chris on my blog: http://www.nccfnews.blogspot.com.  Its not a big audience but once a virus starts spreading you can’t stop it.

My mom has a great quote on her computer: "Be kind, everyone you meet is waging a great battle"

Best wishes to everyone. The time for talk is past. Let’s get educated and act.

Kate

Hi. My name is Josue. You can call me Joshua to make it easier. I live in Colombia, South America.

I have a BS in  Electronics Engineering, and for more than 20 years I have been working with information systems. I offer my experience in this field to the brigade for whatever it may be needed.

As a native Spanish speaker, I would love to help translate the Crash Course to Spanish.

I also have 6 years of experience in stocks trading, using technical analysis.

I love nature and I wonder how wonderful the world could be if only we could use its resources more wisely.

I have found the Crash Course from goldsilver.com, after attending the Richdad seminar last year.

Hi Everyone,

I posted this message earlier on another part of this forum; I think by mistake.

Recently I sent The Crash Course DVD to Jim Lehrer of The News Hour, Charlie Rose and Bill Moyer of PBS. With the amount of information these individuals must be receiving I am concerned that the DVD might simply be discarded by them even though I included a letter of explanation with the DVD. I believe, though, that any one or all of them would be influenced by a large number of Emails urging them to review The Crash Course. The end result would likely be an interview with Chris Martenson. The Email addresses are as follows:

Jim Lerher       [email protected]

Charlie Rose     [email protected]

Bill Moyers       [email protected]

@ronaldaltic,

This forum is actually intended for introducing "us" to each other, that is, brigade members.  Your initiative with the celebrities above is really more along the line of a Special Project.  See Special Projects & Even Planning in the brigade section.

Still, I’m busily emailing them now.  Thanks for all you have done.  I’m still waiting on my 100 DVDs which I ordered the first day they were available.  I sure hope others don’t have the same difficulty I’ve had with the DVD distributor.

Best wishes … Don
