Hello Chris,Thank you for creating your fascinating lecture series.
On energy alternatives you sound perhaps more pessimistic than need be.
Although further scientific breakthroughs are probably necessary and decades of investment in altered infrastructure will need to take place, the hydrogen economy is not just inputting oil energy into making hydrogen-as-a-battery.
Do a search on algae and hydrogen production and you will see that solar energy and water can be used as inputs for hydrogen production.
In case all this fails, then I’ll become a subsistence farmer (or caterer to wealthy Chinese tourists) in the tropics. See a place like http://www.orchidpark.biz as a potential survival strategy 🙂
