Rand Paul: Obama’s criticism of BP ‘un-American’

WASHINGTON – Taking another unconventional stand, Kentucky’s Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul criticized President Barack Obama’s handling of the Gulf oil spill Friday as putting “his boot heel on the throat of BP” and “really un-American.”

Paul’s defense of the oil company came during an interview as he tried to explain his controversial take on civil rights law, an issue that has overtaken his campaign since his victory in Tuesday’s GOP primary.  “What I don’t like from the president’s administration is this sort of, ‘I’ll put my boot heel on the throat of BP,'” Paul said in an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “I think that sounds really un-American in his criticism of business.”

Other Republicans have criticized the administration’s handling of the oil spill, but few have been so vocal in defending BP, the company responsible for the deep well and offshore rig that exploded last month, killing 11 workers.  On the oil spill, Paul, a libertarian and tea party favorite, said he had heard nothing from BP indicating it wouldn’t pay for the spill that threatens devastating environmental damage along the Gulf of Mexico coast.

Welcome to two party tyranny.  Like all major news events, this will be crafted to divide the people.  In this phony left-right debate, people align on sides rather than reviewing the merits of the situation.BP will be defended by the right while the left will pretend to be outraged.  The tea party movement began as neither a democratic nor republican initiative which was very troubling for the puppet masters…imagine if democrats and republicans began finding common ground!  Could it lead to an awakening of the masses?

[/quote]

I hope it does lead to that awakening.  But BP’s use of dispersants is probably going to hide costs, so it will pay much less than is due.  Damages to all kinds of beings done by those chemicals and by delayed effects of dispersed oil will be next to impossible to prove.  It’s really too bad the hay idea was not adopted.  Oyster mushrooms could have dealt with (much of) it, once glommed on to the hay (see Paul Stamets, Fungi Perfecti).

The one who pokes the hole that goes out of control should never again be the one to deal with it.  Or, at least, the scope of its efforts should be limited strictly to plugging the hole.

Low Spill Estimate Can Save BP Money

Well I have been wondering why the size of the spill has been so low and has been parroted by all the media. I now know why.

We are lied to about inflation , we are lied to about unemployment, we are lied to about WMD, we are lied to about GDP so why should we be surprised when we are lied to about how much oil is spewing into the Gulf.

Rand “Evil Incarnate” Paul will show up as BP’s defender of bargain-basement oil for the people,
and then will go after Rachael Maddow.

Adm. Thad Allen trusts Tony Hayward. Hey Thad are ya gonna buy a used oil spill from him?

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/politics/2010/05/23/sotu.allen.trust.hayward.cnn.html

This is the same Thad Allen whose boat turned away  CBS reporters from showing oil coming ashore on our beaches in LA. because of BP rules.

What was it dubya said ” fool me once shame on you , uh duh ya better not try to fool ma again”

My space ship obviously landed on the wrong planet.

    BP and the Nature Conservancy

Some might call it ‘greenwashing” but it is a complex issue.

An interesting read.
