Erik,

I’m always skeptical of what the technical guys (Lou Rukeyser called them elves) say about a chart, particularly when I can’t look at the same chart and identify what they claim to see.  Could someone point out where the head and shoulders, and neckline are on this chart?

OOPS!

Shucks, I guess we’ve lost the ability to edit posts with the site upgrade?  Why is that?

Anyways, I obviously posted the wrong chart.  Here’s the right one:

Double post.

I see the edit button now.  Perhaps only active for a few minutes after the post?

I propose retiring this thread and creating a new one

All,

Now that this thread is more than 300 posts, I’m finding it hard to follow. The problem is that the "New post" feature doesn’t work well past the first "page" of posts. The workaround is to change your default number of "comments per page" to 300, which is the maximum. This is done in the "Comment Viewing Options" area, just above the edit window at the bottom of each thread.

First, I suggest to everyone that unless you have a slow internet connection and don’t want to wait for the download, set your comments per page to 300 then click "Save settings". That will make the "go to new posts in this thread" function operate properly on any thread up to 300 comments in length. It’s buggy otherwise.

Second, I propose a new "Definitive Gold’s Near-Term Outlook" thread, which would replace this one. The reason for a new thread is that once any thread gets over 300 comments, it’s impossible to make the new-comment navigation work optimally.

I’m guessing nobody will object to this change, so I’m going to go ahead and create the new thread now. I request that everyone start using it instead of this one for future posts on this subject. If there’s a good reason not to do this, someone please speak up or forever hold your peace…

Thanks,
Erik

PLEASE POST ANY AND ALL REPLIES IN THE NEW THREAD

Please refrain from posting any more replies in this thread.

Instead, please go here: http://www.PeakProsperity.com/forum/definitive-golds-near-term-outlook-thread/17730 for a continuation of this discussion.

I do not represent site management so I’m not technically able to declare this thread "closed", but I respectfully propose to the community that it be considered closed in favor of the new thread linked above for the reasons described in my previous post.

Thanks,
Erik

    Re: Gold’s near future

In my recent experience, physical gold seems to be a bit easier (i.e., quicker) to obtain in recent days. Some time ago I decided on an appropriate percentage of gold in my investments. It was "paper gold", (iShares Comex Gold Trust and the SPDR gold trust – "GLD"). Then I read the prospectus and one word ran through my thoughts: SELL!

So, mom not having raised a total fool, I have been systematically converting my paper gold into physical gold. After some research and thought, I chose Kitco in Montreal. They have so far been reliable. My initial order seemingly took three forevers to arrive, but it did arrive in good order. My next order was in my hands within days after placing the order. Service is courteous. Bullion bars come with an assay certificate. The little one ounce bars are sealed in plastic and mine have the Credit Suisse logo stamped on them. Kitco has been using Via Mat in New York as their shipping agent. My orders came in tamper resistant plastic bags, shipped by registered, insured mail.

I decided against bullion coins because they command such a premium over the spot price. There are trade-offs involved so each of us must decide on the merits.
