Geert Vanden Bossche Statement – Omicron

Just yikes.  https://www.voiceforscienceandsolidarity.org/scientific-blog/my-opinion-on-the-new-african-variants

“THE big Q is whether such an immune escape variant could even resist naturally acquired Abs in people who recovered from C19 disease. I am, indeed, cautious and worried about ADE, even in the unvaccinated who recovered from C-19 disease as they may no longer be able to control viral infection. ADE would equal ‘enhanced virulence’. Difficult to predict.

Mass vaccination has compressed the evolutionary trajectory of the virus from a few hundred years (?) down to one year. Hope that naturally primed individuals can deal with that speed.”

Geert Vanden Bossche Statement – Omicron

Dr Angelique Coetzee of the South African Medical Association, as well as Dr Joe Phaalah, the Health Minister himself,  have just stated that this particular variant has produced very mild symptoms (slight headaches, fatigue and slight fevers lasting for a couple of days) and can be remedied by simple analgesics, rest and fluids. In other words, a flu!
So far there have been zero deaths, and zer0 ICU admissions.
They even said that the world is just overreacting to a mere storm in a teacup.
If GVB prognosis is correct, where ADE could be indeed kicking in, it would be severe for those whose immune system had been compromised, hence the fully vaccinated (note* the first few cases of this variant were ALL fully vaxxed).
As the mutation of this virus has undergone plenty of variations already, its virulence may have increased but not its fatality.
For this reason, the unvaxxed who HAD COVID-19 previously and still continues to top-up their immune system with Zinc/Vit D. plus subscribing to a few prophylactic measures using Ivermectin,, would stand a great chance of shaking this variant off.

Geert Vanden Bossche Statement – Omicron

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-14/omicron-severity-seen-masked-by-prior-72-case-rate-in-s-africa

The article issues a warning that Omicron may be more dangerous than it appears from S. African experience, because 72% of people in the area it was first found are seropositive for previous COVID infection.

Hmmm…. that sounds like a roundabout way of saying that natural immunity is blunting the severity of Omicron in S. Africa.

They do note that other populations may have a different experience, since the S. African population was heavily exposed to the Beta variant.  Fair point.  If your natural immunity derives from Alpha or Delta, for example, we don’t know how that compares with Beta-based immunity when it comes to resisting Omicron.  My guess is that it is similar, but time will tell.
