‘Policy doesn’t interest [PM Stefan Löfven], he doesn’t seem to want to lead… It means that Swedish policymaking is so out of kilter with Swedish and European public opinion sometimes.’

That’s putting it mildly. And the FT can be forgiven for not having all the facts.

Stefan Löfven was interviewed last autumn by state media’s Anders Holmberg, and he was such a disaster that his party now refuse to let him make unnecessary public appearances.
