FBI Drops Truth-Bomb on Gun Control Advocates
The FBI just released its data for Crime in the United States, 2013 and gun control lobbyists are probably not going to like what it says.
According to the report, while background checks for firearm purchasers hit record levels in 2013 — 21,093,273 to be exact — “violent crimes in 2013 decreased 4.4 percent when compared with 2012 figures, and the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.1 percent.”
Wendy, advocates of gun control are driven by one or more of three essential motivations:
1. They succumb to Availability Bias of the media with its treatment of firearms, so they PERCEIVE that firearm violence is greater than it is. Pete's guess is that this is 50% of gun control advocates and are people that mean well, but also consider liberty to be the currency to be spent for security.
2. They find a personal distaste for firearms and the concept of self-defense, hunting, or both, and wish to project that distaste into a uniform compulsory standard for all, so that they can "change the world" in a way that is suitable to their personal tastes. Pete's guess is 30-35% of gun control advocates.
3. They realize that the 2nd amendment is a potent psychological (and physical) tonic with respect to standing up to central authority and, because their ideological preferences dictate a strong central authority they realize that destruction of the 2nd amendment (basically lawyer it to death) is essential for compliance to their ideological goals. This is probably 15-20% and is the gutter dwelling hard core ideologues. They are the ones that know exactly what the 2nd amendment says but also realize that the Bill of Rights is a direct obstruction for their agenda of a humanistic utopia. I think they also perceive, and let's be clear, I am not advocating this, that if the 2nd amendment's true purpose is ever activated en masse that they will be in the cross hairs (which I certainly believe to be true). The later would certainly add an extra virulent motivation to "get them off the streets" ASAP.
The aspect that you are referring to ties into number 3. If gun ownership rates were strongly correlated with violent crime rates then GREAT!, that would certainly assist in their end goal. If not, well, that can be worked around, so to speak. Disparagement, lying, misrepresentation of facts, manufactured "studies", omissions, ect can be used to work around that inconvenient truth.
That's how it works and it explains why there are/were crickets with respect to that release. If you can't spin it, or twist it to tell a big enough whopper of a lie to advance the REAL agenda, then you ignore it.
It's simple Propaganda 101, that's all.
