    Re: Facebook

Guys,

Erik has given the go-ahead to go live with the Facebook page.  He also suggested that we beef up the intro a little and provide some more information about the 3 E’s etc.

Futuo, do you want to go ahead and make an announcement on the main forums?  I think this is something we definitely want to go public with.  If you get flamed, don’t sweat it.  Others will have found the information useful.

Kevin, do you want to work with Futuo a little further on the intro and description and get it a little more polished up?

Thanks.

Lucas

Sure. I’ll talk to Kevin and we’ll buff
up the intro and description in the next day or two before we go
"public". I’ll have to message him for admin/officer
privileges though.

Okay.  Thanks Futuo.  I also asked Kevin about giving you admin privileges.

Please try to bring most of your planning discussion here.  IM where appropriate, but it is important that most of the planning be done in open format for the entire Brigade to view.  Start a thread in "Project and Special Event Planning."

Thanks.

    Re: Facebook

Sorry – been abroad for a few days … but catching up now.  Below is a fleshed-out introduction for the facebook site.  I think it shouldn’t be much longer so that people can get the essence of the course quickly and then hopefully start watching.  That being said – I wouldn’t want to presume to have totally gotten the essence below – so perhaps this could be something Chris could review/approve.  I haven’t seen yet if there has been an advert on the site yet for facebook – once this introduction on the group is approved we could start a coordinated effort to spread the word.  Maybe as follows:

  1. Ask visitors to/members of PeakProsperity.com to join the facebook group.  Perhaps there could be an announcement on the homepage for a few days, so regular visitors see it.
  2. After the group has a few more members, perhaps send a message to all members of the group with a request to invite all their friends to join – maybe offering some prepared messages that they could use.  If Chris was a member himself – it might be nice if he could send this message (we could of course prepare it)
  3. I think there is also a way to advertise the group on facebook somehow – this could probably be done at the same time – but maybe better to let just word of mouth do most of the work at the beginning.

Cheers for now,

Kevin

In "The Crash Course" Chris Martenson presents an in-depth consideration of the Economy, Energy, and the Environment.  Not only does he explain the fundamental causes of the current economic crisis, but he also demonstrates how the problems facing the economy are related to concurrent issues regarding our sources of energy and climate change.

Chris Martenson is passionate about informing people about the problems we all face today and how we may try to fix them.  For this reason, he has made "The Crash Course" completely free as an offering to everybody and anybody who wishes to view it.

    Re: Facebook

If facebook is another website for me to "join" / "sign up", then what added value does it have over this web site?

I am not trying to be sarcastic here.  I genuinely need to know if there is really value in me "joining" yet another source of information.

    Re: Facebook

Per Luc’s request, I’m making a thread in "Project and Special Event Planning"

@Ronetnivek: That general three step plan is also what i have in mind. I’ve been working on a few paragraphs of explanation myself. Naturally we don’t want to overload people, but I’d rather have more information that people can choose not to read as opposed to not enough to entice our target audience.

@dps: If you don’t have a facebook account, I don’t think it would be worth creating one just to join the Crash Course group. It would be great, if you just wanted to join the group and do nothing else so as to boost our membership. Aside from that, though, it’s main purpose is to direct people here. There isn’t going to be anything there that you won’t be able to find here. In fact, there will probably be much less. It’s just a way to promote awareness and get more people to PeakProsperity.com.

"What added value does it have over this web site?"

-For you, frequenting this web site and being part of the Brigade, probably none. The biggest reason for having a facebook group (in my opinion) is so that the members of our community who already have accounts with many friends can easily and conveniently "invite" their friends to join the group, so as to spread the word, with the aim of redirecting people to PeakProsperity.com. I’m rather confident that there will not be any exclusive information. In short, aside from increasing the number of people in the group, there really isn’t much reason for you to sign up.

    Re: Facebook

I had someone send me a facebook message this morning, having received the mass-mailing I sent out last night. He wants to get involved, but for some reason can’t access the website (i don’t even know if he’s seen the videos). He also said that he’s heard other people have the same issue. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s from Colombia or what, but I told him to e-mail @PeakProsperity.com">volunteer@PeakProsperity.com if he wants to get involved, and told him that he can download torrents of the crash course. Any ideas as to why he can’t access the site?

I don’t know but I’ll definitely pass it on to Ron & Erik.  Thanks for letting us know.
