    Crash Course promotion

I live in a condo complex and I’d like to post something on our message board about the Crash Course. People definitely look at the message board, so it’s just a matter of getting the right wording in the message so I can get my neighbors to watch it. I could try come up with something, but I don’t know if someone at cm.com wants to chime in and come up with some sort of template, that way others can do the same thing as I would like to do.

Joe and all,

I have an idea.  Why don’t we turn this thread into a template folder for promotional wording.  Ultimately, what we want is for the promotional content to be a product of MB members’ own creativity and sincerity.  I’ll take a shot at it and encourage others to do the same:

FOR BULLETIN BOARD COPY:

Are we in a recession?

How did we get where we are?

Will the bailout work?

These questions and many others are answered in a free online video series called the Crash Course (www.PeakProsperity.com/crashcourse).  The Crash Course offers a comprehensive look at the three E’s; economy, energy, and environment and describes how a crisis in each is simultaneously paving the way for the greatest social challenge of our time.  The series clearly explains things like our money system, housing bubbles, inflation, peak oil, and many other concepts in easy-to-understand language.  Log on and find out what you won’t see on the evening news.

The Crash Course has been made freely available by activist and PhD Chris Martenson.  His goal is to help as many as possible through the troubling times ahead.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to understand the truth.

    Re: Crash Course promotion

Just to let you guys know what I’m up to.

I looked up my town government on the web and found an email for some guy in their planning department that had the label of liaison something or other.  I wrote to him totally out of the blue asking to meet with him about Energy, Economy and Environment along with how important community is going to be.

He wrote me back!!!

I will meet with him via phone Friday morning.  He said he will be where he has access to the web.  I will take him Chris’ site and walk him through the first 15 minutes of the crash course (about 5 chapters, if I remember correctly).  At that point I’m planning to just ask him if he is interested enough to finish the crash course himself and I will offer to furnish DVDs and future discussion.

Don,

That’s great!  I’m excited to see how it turns out.  Have you ordered any DVD’s yet?

Also, re-post this reply to the VIP & Media Promotion folder and update us there instead of as a reply to this post.

Thanks.

Lucas

Don,

I have an idea.  Why don’t you have him watch "Future Shock" (Chapter 19)?

Let him know that the key to understanding that chapter more fully lies in viewing the rest of the Crash Course.

I expect you two could have an interesting conversation around the questions:

1) How will our town respond to a dramatic decline in state support itself driven by the numerous demands on federal money?

2)  What sort of economic and emergency contingency plans does our town have in place?   How would we respond to a 19% decline in revenues like the state of CA?  How many days of food do we have on hand?

3) Etc.

While there are probably no good answers to these questions (I’m guessing) my personal goal would be to covnert this person into an advocate for a screening of the Crash Course (or parts of it) by the full town coucil in an open forum with citizen attendance.

That would be interesting….

Just some thoughts.

Keep up the great work.

Best,
Chris

    Re: Crash Course promotion

Brigaders,

I seek feedback on this idea:

I want to promote the crash course, of course, but I want that promotion to be promoted too.  Make sense?  Here’s what I’m thinking:  Let’s start a public forum that shows a spreadsheet of Country/State(or Province, whatever)/City, short title of the effort, description of what’s being done to promote the CC and a contact person (a means of connecting with the person behind the effort … as in, to help).  This last part may be tricky.  Perhaps we could use a special email dedicated just to this so our normal emails don’t get spammed or whatever.  I’ll maintain this for the community.  By placing this in the public area, we invite the entire world to "join" in and help the effort (many efforts are on-going, but not getting much advertising).  I would request admin to give this spreadsheet a special button on the main page similar to the way the seminars get "promotion" on the main page.

Then, let’s do a second forum, this one, Crash Course Promotion, that will have subsections by title (short title from the spreadsheet above) where the person behind the effort provides regular updates.  "Regular" here means whenever the volunteer wants to provide updates, I’m not going to force anyone to do anything, but I think it would be encouraging to us all to hear how your efforts are progressing, plus, we can all start giving each other tips and encouragement.  This would be "advertised" on the main forum described above to encourage people that, should they want more information, they can join the brigade and find all the details in Crash Course Promotion.

One of the main objectives of this is to show ourselves and the world just how much is going on … it’s an amazing amount of effort going on out their, it’s just spread thinly throughout all the various forums here and has no cohesion.  Another objective is for us to find each other physically/geographically so we can gather in-person to build community among each other.  For example, I found a friend, Mark, in Longmont by pure coincidence.  I want to make that more likely.  In fact, I want to know everyone in my area by name and have regular meetings where we can discuss our common goals and efforts.  For example, promotion of the CC and working through the Ch 20 assessment / plan / execution.

This is a proposal for some specific actions that I think can fit into this media.  Let’s give it a week or 2 to brew, let’s say we get to consensus on how to proceed or turn this down by 3/26/09.  Reasonable?  Let the feedback begin … Hugs to you all … Don
