Does anyone know how one can see or buy this movie, if none of the theater showings are in your area?  The link at the beginning of this thread has been removed due to copyright issues as far as I can tell.

Thanks!

I finally caught this movie.  I am not sure if I agree with everything but I thought it was quite compelling and an absolute must see!  It might be a great movie to introduce people to some critical concepts and might wake up some people that are of the mindset that we will soon be back to the consumption based economy we have had for the past 30 years.

Was it heavy on the conspiracy theory stuff, or is it well substantiated?
The trailer makes it look worth while.

Interested in hearing more of your thoughts on it Goes!

Cheers,

I don’t think it was too heavy into conspiracy theories and I found the narative to be facinating if not a bit sensationalistic.  The camera work, music, and stock footage, I think made for a very compelling story.  It was not completely depressing to me but that might be because I have already taken the red pill and no longer believe the system of the past 30 years will be coming back for any sustainable amount of time.

The main focus of the movie was on peak oil but also touched on agribusiness, monetary system,…  His focus seemed to be on trying to get people thinking about sustainabilty and one of the more up lifting parts of the movie was his contrast between post soviet North Korea and Cuba.

The biggest problem I think the movie has is Mike Ruppert himself.  He just does not have the credentials/credibility that give a lot of weight to what he is saying.  The cinema goer is somewhat left with the feeling that we have a very sincere guy that is telling a very scary story but you are just left wondering how is this guy’s opinion so much more valid than any guy sitting at the end of the bar.

I am definately looking forword to hearing what others thought of it.  I would like to get my wife to watch it at some point to see how it comes off to someone that is not quite of the Crash Course mentality.  If you ever get to see it, let us know what you think.

Yep. I pretty much felt th same as you.

I regards to his credentials/credibility I thought about that too and came to the conclusion that well, who does have the credentials/credibility’? The topics are a very broad and span decades if not centuries so who would have ‘the credentials’. In the end I think he makes a compeling case and approaches it rationally.

Goes/ JO

Thanks for the recap.

That was one of my original thoughts is: Who in the * expletive* is Mike Ruppert?
He doesn’t present himself as a calm, collected, rationalist who can sift through complex arguments in a organized fashion.

That said, he’d be preachin’ to the Choir, cause I already believe.

Cheers,

Aaron

Movie points out that we need to put emphasis on efficiency and better sustainability.  Society needs to unlock what is locked up in the Patent office and technologies that are being suppressed.

Will that happen?  Who knows.  The money profit structure will usually suppress alternatives that can compete with the energy cartels.

Great Movie, hope documentaries about alternatives and hidden suppressed technologies are made too.

    Re: Collapse-A Documentary- Mike Ruppert

The continued use of the term “Conspiracy Theory” is playing right into the hands of those that both invented then propagated it to immediately dismiss anyone attempting to shed light upon their crimes.  Sound, rational investigative journalist like Michael Ruppert, Paul Thompson, Nafeez Ahmed and David Ray Griffin have written compelling works at great personal and professional expense to expose the inconsistencies and outright deceptions in the official Government account of 9/11.  Gary Webb and others have done the same in exposing the involvement of the CIA and high ranking Government officials in selling mass quantities of cocaine in American inner cites to raise money to fund the Contras.  Most people will dismiss these out of hand without reading them because they have been labeled as “Conspiracy Theories” by the same criminals who invented the term.  I will include a link to Michael Rupperts recommended reading list. Michael has done great work in compiling a list of hard hitting, well written books that expose the very truth that our Government tries so hard to keep hidden.  Keep in mind while reading any of these books what the authors may of had to go through to get them to us.  I am also including a link to Johnny Silverbear discussing the term “Conspiracy Theorist”.   I hope you find this enlightening.

Nacci,

Um, no.
Conspiracy Theorists are guys who take wild, fanciful ideas and throw them out as possible, without any real supporting fact! Otherwise they’d be Conspiracy Factualists, or just plain, good old fashion “honest”.
While this might be the case, if you don’t at least have a strong theory, I don’t want to waste 2 hours of my life listening to your opinions.

I’m not familiar with the fellers you listed, but dudes like Alex Jones and David Icke are theorists
If they say something, there is no chance I’ll regard it as even remotely possible because I realize it’s about appealing to the Walter Mittys out there who just want to harbor fantastic thoughts to feel as if they’re living some secret life that no one else knows about.

Try using “Bohemian Grove” as a tool to get Bush prosecuted and see where that gets you.
Truth be told, Conspiracy Theorists are like a black hole in the internet. They take good information, espouse wildly without much thought, and ruin it. It is, in effect, counterproductive.

Therefore, it’s good to keep a running tab on who’s full of sh…tuff – to include MSNBC, CNN and FoxNews, folks like Icke and Jones and make sure you don’t pretend they’re credible sources when you gather intelligence to formulate rational thoughts.

So if Ruppert is just trying to glorify disaster to those who crave such things and are already inclined to believe such is inevitable (myself included) I don’t want to waste my time with it.
If he’s like Gerald Celente, who has decent, well thought through forecasts with a pedigree for accuracy – well that’s different.

So I hope I’m not “misusing” Conspiracy Theorists. I just simply don’t want to hear about the Jews Planning 9/11 and the CIA blowing up the twin towers and mutated lizardfolk commanding the shadow government burrowed beneath Mt. Weather.

Without facts, these are just things that alienate reality from the masses.

Cheers,

Aaron
