    Cliven Bundy

I am a devoted reader and a first time responder because you really got my dander up on this one.I have worked the Great Basin lands for half my career so I can present myself as someone who learned a lot along the way.  If you want to provide clarity and facts to listeners during off the cuff podcasts you should have probably talked to people who have worked the Northern Great Basin lands and had to deal with Mr Bundy and others like him in general. Make no mistake, this is tough land to live and work in. It creates a sense of rugged individualism in those who live there. But that should not give carte blanch to anyone whose religious and philosophical beliefs are at odds to the interests and investments of the greater public Maybe you should have talked to the dedicated BLM field staff who are instructed to travel in two vehicle groups to evacuate as quickly as possible in case of a breakdown to avoid being shot at in the vicinity of ranch. Maybe you should talk to the federal wildfire responders who receive a hostile reception even though they are there to control rangeland fires. Mr Bundy is a dinosaur, a relic of a world that no longer exists. You dont need to glorify him as a victim. Society only works if people want it to. The BLM officials wouldnt have shown up armed if they didnt fear for their own lives. Next time please discuss topics you truly know something about.

    agreed

The guy is a nutcase and a stone racist. Even Glenn Beck, who I rarely agree with, recognizes that grazing fees are a normal part of cattle raising in the west. Plus, even by libertarian standards Bundy is just plain wrong. Property ownership is fundamental to libertarian thought and Bundy clearly doesn’t own the land. The contradictions in his muddled thinking are blatant and are not worth discussing. His supporters should fold up their tents and go home.

    Flag irony

I found it amusing that while Bundy claims not to recognize the Federal government, some of his minions are always riding around waving the flag – you know, the one for the government his wallet doesn't recognize.
